Hai Duc Pagoda
Hai Duc Pagoda is located on Hai Duc Street, Phuong Son Ward, west of Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province. The path leading to this temple is quite picturesque. After traversing a long slope, visitors will reach a flat road on the left, surrounded by lush greenery, leading to the temple against a rocky backdrop.
Additionally, there's another quicker path where visitors can ascend a steep slope with narrow stone steps. Along this route, there are small stone benches for those going to the temple to rest and gather strength for the next part of the journey.
This temple is none other than the largest Buddhist Academy in Central Vietnam, adorned with numerous scenic beauties. Consequently, it has become the most renowned temple in the city of Nha Trang.
Upon arrival, tourists often seek blessings and marvel at the temple's surroundings. Particularly intriguing is the extraordinary tale of a past-life father and his lost child.
This story dates back to 1956 when an American engineer named Blank M decided to come to Vietnam to find and reunite with his past-life father, who happened to be the abbot of Hai Duc Pagoda – Master Thich Phuoc Hue. The resemblance between the two was uncanny, despite each residing in a different country, practicing different religions, customs, and even speaking different languages.
Linh Phong Pagoda
Perched on Trai Thuy Mountain, Linh Phong Pagoda is surrounded by a spectacular natural landscape, exuding an aura of solemnity and tranquility.
Throughout the year, Linh Phong Pagoda attracts numerous travelers from far and wide to come and admire, significantly contributing to the revitalization of Buddhism as well as the development of Nha Trang tourism in Khanh Hoa province.
This temple, also known as Buu Phong Pagoda, has a newly renovated main hall with a width of 24m and depth of 17m. The tiled roof is uniquely designed, and the distinctive feature of this Nha Trang tourist spot is the front roof tiles crafted and cast by the abbot himself. Additionally, the temple roof is adorned with dragons embracing the Dharma wheel, creating a lively and graceful ambiance. In front of the porch, large columns are intricately carved with dragons entwined with clouds.
The construction structure of this temple is truly unique. All inner pillars and beams are connected not by nails but by wooden joints. Most pillars and doors are intricately carved with meticulous detailing, featuring unique patterns, motifs, and mythical creatures. This Nha Trang attraction captivates numerous tourists due to its distinctive architecture.
Tu Ton Pagoda
In the journey of exploring temples, travelers should visit Tu Ton Pagoda located on Hon Do Island, covering an area of about 20,000m2 in Vinh Tho Ward, Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province. Hon Do Island, only about 300m from the shore, was established and constructed by Venerable Thich Vien Man in the 1960s.
As Tu Ton Pagoda sits on a naturally beautiful red rock formation, the locals consider it a particularly special Nha Trang sightseeing spot. During high tide, reaching this temple requires a motorboat ride. During low tide, tourists can easily wade through. Afterward, follow the trail to the west to approach the main southern entrance of the pagoda.
To construct this temple, Venerable Thich Vien Man dedicated 40 years to reclaiming and transforming the land, establishing a meditation retreat, and building the pagoda. The venerable, along with monks, nuns, and devoted Buddhists, purchased land and transported fresh water to the island, creating gardens, planting scenic trees, and nurturing the landscape. Today, Tu Ton Pagoda stands as a prominent landmark in the coastal city of Nha Trang.
