Players will initiate the storyline as Backwood forces capture Team Vega 5 and Agent Noda, individuals responsible for preventing a killing spree on Mars. Now, they hold their hostages in the Hydra naval base, a fortress in the middle of the ocean protected by formidable artillery. As Warface deploys the Sigma-3 unit to seize control of the base, Blackwood summons all ranks of Hydra to thwart and eliminate them.
Following several story-focused updates encompassing everything from space travel to colonialism and cyborg soldiers, the developers aim to reintroduce the basics, with new Warface missions featuring shotguns and adversaries everywhere. Unlike other Special Operations, Operation Hydra is restricted to a 3-person team, fostering tighter cooperation, layered tactics, and reduced waiting times.
Through Operation Hydra, Blackwood will deploy a series of 20 attacks consisting of troops, drones, and mini-bosses. Each subsequent assault will be more enduring and powerful than the last. Your task is simply to defend a central terminal within the base, and fend off everything Blackwood throws at you before facing a formidable boss lurking deep within Hydra.
By vanquishing enemies in the assaults and achieving new combat milestones, you'll accumulate resources for repairing equipment, as well as purchasing new offensive and defensive weaponry such as rocket launchers, defense towers, laser beams, and ballistic shields to push back and counter Blackwood forces. Various special situations may arise throughout the base, including power outages, smoke or toxic gas clouds, and denser enemy formations. You'll need to adapt your strategies on the fly if you want to survive.
