Explore the Hanoi Flag Tower – A symbol of military reverence amidst the capital's heart
The Hanoi Flag Tower stands proudly on Dien Bien Phu Street, in Ba Dinh District, Hanoi City. The tower is erected on the eastern side of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, on the former grounds of the Le dynasty's Tam Mon Palace. Today, the flag tower resides within the compound of the Vietnam Military History Museum, facing the Le Nin Flower Garden.

With its unique and venerable architecture, adorned with the national flag flying high for the past 77 years, the Hanoi Flag Tower becomes an unmissable destination in the journey to explore this land of a thousand years of civilization.

The architecture of the tower comprises 3 lofty tiers topped by a flagpole. The first tier features a truncated square pyramid with each side measuring 42.5m in length and 3.1m in height, with two staircases on either side made of brick leading up to the second tier. Similar to the first tier, the second tier also boasts a truncated square pyramid, with each side measuring 27m in length and 3.7m in height.

The peak of the flagpole is constructed into an octagonal room, each side adorned with a window, with a room height of 3.3m. The apex of the pole is tiled, featuring an 8m-long iron column in the center, equipped with pulley systems for flag hoisting.

Over the years, the image of the Hanoi Flag Tower has been extensively utilized in cultural publications, notably appearing solemnly on the banknotes of the State Bank of Vietnam in its initial circulation and will forever stand as a symbol of the capital city's culture and history.
