During the summer days, take the opportunity to visit Light Rock (An Ninh Dong commune, Tuy An district, Phu Yen) – a relatively new destination in the backpacker's guidebook – where you'll discover many intriguing things.
Explore the untouched beauty of Light Rock in Phu Yen tourism

From Tuy Hoa City, we rode our motorbike to Chí Thạnh town (Tuy An district) and then turned onto the asphalt road connecting National Highway 1 with the national scenic relic of Rock Plateau in An Ninh Dong commune. Light Rock is about 700m away from the Rock Plateau, turning left onto a small road leading towards the Light Rock lighthouse.
The Beauty of Nature
The road to the Light Rock lighthouse is only suitable for motorbikes. Stretching along the coastline, the Light Rock area is nearly 1km long, consisting of rock formations arranged in a random manner, creating a stunning picture.
Amongst the unique rock formations with various shapes and colors stands a dual-colored red-and-white lighthouse, proudly towering against the backdrop of the blue sky, serving as a guiding beacon for vessels navigating the waters of Xuan Dai Bay.
According to a local fisherman, despite being only a 15-minute walk from the renowned Rock Plateau, few tourists venture to visit Light Rock because they are only familiar with Rock Plateau. However, this very fact preserves the rugged and untamed beauty of the rocks here.

Among Vietnam's 79 lighthouses, Ganh Den lighthouse may not boast remarkable architecture or history, but it still holds its own value and specific duties within the maritime region of Xuan Dai Bay.
The lighthouse stands 22 meters above sea level. Every five seconds, the light rotates, emitting a beam visible to vessels offshore within a range of 17 nautical miles.
From here, one can overlook an expansive expanse of the blue eastern sea and the scattered islands and large and small rocks to the south of Xuan Dai Bay.
The entrance to Light Rock has now been concreted, making travel convenient. Surrounding the accommodation for lighthouse keepers, the trees planted for many years now provide refreshing shade.
Discover the New Destination for Adventurers
In the past, this spot was called Black Rock, but since Maritime Safety Assurance Company 2 built a lighthouse here, fishermen have gradually renamed it Light Rock. Looking from the shore, one can see a variety of smooth and rugged rock formations, with waves gently caressing the crevices, creating frothy foam.
Beneath the clustered rocks, amidst the swaying seaweed, shoals of small fish swim gracefully. It's also an ideal resting place for travelers, offering shelter from both sunny days and rainy weather when visiting Phu Yen tourism.

In the vicinity of Light Rock, one can spot fishing boats anchored in the azure waters. As evening falls, young fishermen row out in coracles to begin a night of shrimp fishing in the bay.
Upon our arrival, amidst the cool sea breeze atop large rock formations, groups of young friends and families gather around, joyfully grilling squid and fish. Enjoying the fresh seafood delicacies right atop the rocky outcrops under the vast expanse of the azure sky is simply incomparable.
Notably, the area boasts numerous large, flat rock formations, perfect for young groups of friends to enjoy recreational activities such as camping, fishing, and bonding on weekends.
Adjacent to Rock Plateau, in the long run, this is also a convenient opportunity for backpacking groups to visit, take a break, and capture memorable photos when visiting this coastal area.

Light Rock is only about 1km away from the Rock Plateau coastline. From Tuy Hoa City (Phu Yen), tourists can ride motorcycles along National Highway 1A to Chi Thanh Town (Tuy An District), then turn towards the Rock Plateau with a route of about 40km.
Alternatively, one can travel from Tuy Hoa City along the coastal road, passing through O Loan lagoon towards the Rock Plateau with a distance of 30km.
In addition to visiting Light Rock, tourists can explore the Rock Plateau, a national scenic relic, or the unique cowsheds and fences made from stacked rocks by the people in An Ninh Dong commune (Tuy Hoa), which are quite special and interesting.
Don't forget to visit the ancient Mằng Lăng Church located at the intersection leading to the Rock Plateau near the Chí Thạnh intersection.
