It's been ages since I've embraced a phone with a massive 6' display, and the Android experience on such a large screen feels absolutely amazing. In this piece, I pit two devices, the iPhone 6s (4.7') and the Flash Plus 2 (5.5'), against the Galaxy A9 Pro's 6' screen to compare display capabilities.
1. Explore the spacious 6' screen and display prowess of the Galaxy A9 Pro
It's been ages since I've embraced a phone with a massive 6' display, and the Android experience on such a large screen feels absolutely amazing. In this piece, I pit two devices, the iPhone 6s (4.7') and the Flash Plus 2 (5.5'), against the Galaxy A9 Pro's 6' screen to compare display capabilities. Both Android devices boast Full-HD screen resolution, but the A9 Pro's display resolution set by the manufacturer is higher, allowing it to showcase more content than the Flash Plus 2. Additionally, I've equipped both devices with Nova Launcher to refine the interface aesthetics and customize the number of displayed icons.
Screen Resolution:
- Flash Plus 2: 1920 x 1080, 5.5'
- Galaxy A9 Pro: 1920 x 1080, 6'
- iPhone 6s: 1334 x 750, 4.7'
Display Resolution (determining the amount of content displayed on screen):
- Flash Plus 2: 360 x 640 pixels
- Galaxy A9 Pro: 412 x 732 pixels (equivalent to Note 5 and iPhone 6s Plus)
- iPhone 6s: 375 x 667 pixels
I use this website to check my device's display resolution: www.whatismyscreenresolution.com. Simply open it in your device's web browser to view.
After installing Nova Launcher on my Android device, I adjust the number of Columns x Rows of icons in the App Drawer to suit my preferences best (icons are not too small and are evenly spaced between the two devices, with no excessive gaps between rows and columns). On the Flash Plus 2, I set it to 5 x 6, while on the A9 Pro, I set it to 6 x 10. As you can see in the image below, the A9 Pro displays the highest number of apps, looking impressive. With a setup of 6 columns x 10 rows of icons, it can display up to 60 apps simultaneously on a single screen. On the Flash Plus 2 or any other Android device, you can also adjust it to 6 columns x 10 rows of icons, but if the screen is too small, the icons will overlap and be difficult to see. As for the iPhone, we cannot adjust this display setting by default.
Next up is the Homescreen, using Nova Launcher you can also adjust the number of rows and columns here. The more rows x columns you have, the more space you have to place widgets. For those who like to have multiple widgets on the Homescreen at the same time, it's best to use Nova Launcher or a Launcher with similar functionality.
The web browser is where the difference in display resolution is most noticeable. You can see that the Galaxy A9 Pro displays more content than the Flash Plus 2 because it has a higher display resolution,
not because it has a larger screen.
