The master puppeteer of this village is Nguyen Dang Vinh, who served as an interior supervisor during the Le dynasty. While holding court positions, he mastered the art of water puppetry from the puppeteers serving the royal court.

The water puppetry art of Dao Thuc Village features over 20 ancient stories derived from the daily agricultural activities of farmers such as plowing, herding buffaloes, planting rice, as well as traditional folk games like swing dancing and singing. These performances also reenact legendary tales and folk stories such as Thach Sanh and Saint Giong.

Currently, Dao Thuc Water Puppet Village has nearly 20 individuals holding various positions: village chiefs, puppeteers, musicians playing traditional instruments like the đàn, sáo, and nhị. Additionally, it involves the participation of elderly artisans such as Mr. Tiep, Mr. Nghiem, Ms. Manh, and Ms. Truc.
