Hon Nuoc Lighthouse is located 120km from Quang Ngai city and 70km from Quy Nhon city along the coastal road. Regardless of your starting point, you'll have unique and unmissable experiences.
Discover the charm of Hon Nuoc Lighthouse – a hidden gem for thrill-seekers in Binh Dinh province.
Perched atop Rooster Peak in the Ganhua range, Tan Phung hamlet, My Tho commune, Phu My district, Binh Dinh, this lighthouse was built during the French colonial period and was originally named Vung Moi Lighthouse.

According to historical records, Vung Moi Lighthouse was operational for a period, but was later destroyed during the war. It was rebuilt in early 1990 and officially put into use on March 26, 1997. The name Hon Nuoc Lighthouse is derived from the nearby Nuoc islet.

The geographical coordinates of the lighthouse are: 14°168″N – 109°108″E. With a daytime range of 21 nautical miles and a nighttime range of 18 nautical miles, the 16.2m stone tower stands tall with a focal height of 62.5m above sea level. The light, produced by an APRB 251 DC lamp for the main light and an HD300 lamp for the auxiliary light, emits a white beam with a single flash every 5 seconds.

Discover the mesmerizing wonders of Hon Nước lighthouse
At Hon Nước lighthouse, you'll marvel at the vast expanse of sea and sky. From above, the rocks, both large and small, seem to strategically line up, ready to face the distant crashing waves. Unintentionally, this 'rock army' creates small, crystal-clear water pools—a perfect hunting and hiding haven for various crabs and fish.

Not only can you admire the majestic scenery at Hon Nước lighthouse, but you can also indulge in the pristine waters beneath the Gò Dưa mountain. Locals refer to this spot as 'Bãi Con' (Con Beach).

As the sun shines brighter, the calmer the waves, and the clearer the seawater. With a diving mask, you can easily explore the underwater world. If you're not a swimmer, climbing onto the rock formations still provides a clear view of the seabed.

Bãi Con boasts a long stretch of sand, perfect for those wanting to camp overnight and witness the sunrise over the sea. However, since there are no tourism services, be sure to prepare food, water, tents, and necessary supplies. If you're up for it, showcase your skills by catching fish and crabs along the countless stretches of the beach. With a bit of ingenuity, you'll have an unforgettable outdoor BBQ seafood feast.

Near Hon Nước lighthouse, two equally captivating locations are the Lộ Diêu Pass when coming from Quảng Ngãi, and Vi Rồng Cape (also known as Dragon Cape) when coming from Quy Nhơn. Both places require personal exploration to fully appreciate their beauty.

Travel Route:
– Starting from Quy Nhon, cross Thị Nại Bridge, turn left onto National Road 19B, and follow the coastal route DT640, TL632, DT639 to Hon Nuoc Lighthouse. The QL19B section is picturesque and easy to navigate, but once on DT640 and DT639, expect narrow roads, speed bumps, and gravel. Opting for this approximately 70km route, you'll pass through Nhon Ly (known for Ky Co and Eo Gio beaches), Trung Luong recreational area, Cat Tien Beach, De Gi Beach, and Rong Cape.

– From Quang Ngai, take QL1A to Tam Quan, then turn left onto DT639, cross Lộ Diêu Pass to reach the lighthouse. This 120km route is longer but easier, with scenic roads. Traveling this route, you'll pass through Sa Huynh Sea, mystical Lộ Diêu Pass, and Lộ Diêu Rocky Coast.

Important Note:
– DT640, TL632, DT639, QL19B are quiet roads with rare gas stations and repair shops. Check your fuel and vehicle carefully before starting your journey.
– When on DT639 approaching the sandy stretch, look for the Hon Nuoc Lighthouse Station sign and follow the arrow.

The path to the lighthouse is steep and slippery due to the sandy terrain. Exercise caution while driving, both uphill and downhill.

At Hon Nuoc Lighthouse, there's a fierce dog near the entrance. Stay calm, proceed normally, and seek permission from the border guards for a lighthouse tour. Absolutely avoid running or provoking the aggressive dog.
About 2km from Hon Nuoc Lighthouse, there's a small market in Chanh Trach village, My Tho commune, Phu My district. You can buy food and drinks here.
It's advisable to swim in water cavities surrounded by rocks to ensure safety.
Never litter and refrain from damaging the natural landscape.
