Embark on a Journey to Yen Islet in Phu Yen
Yen Islet, located in An Hoa commune, Tuy An district, is just 20 km northeast of Tuy Hoa city center.

Legend has it that this place was once an island in the open sea. Over time, sedimentation brought it closer to the shore, and now Yen Islet is only a little over 100 meters away. Its unique shape resembles a giant conical hat, surrounded by rocky layers standing tall. At the base, waves have carved deep into the rock, leaving traces of time. Above, natural twists and turns formed hundreds of millions of years ago.

In the past, swallows from all over gathered here for breeding, but due to improper conservation by humans, they gradually moved elsewhere. Nevertheless, the locals, in memory of its beauty and significance, still call this mountain islet Yen Islet to this day.

From the village of Nhơn Hội, gaze out and you'll spot two small islands side by side, approximately 100m from the shore. The larger one, resembling a giant cone, along with towering cliffs, is named Yến Island, while the smaller one is Sụn Island.

The most beautiful beaches in Phú Yên are always wild and require navigating through many coastal fishing villages, and Yến Island is no exception. You'll find yourself in a different world with endless stretches of dazzling sand, meandering through shady casuarina groves, rocky outcrops, and dragon bones along the path.

Surrounding Yến Island is a cluster of coastal scenery. Besides the adjacent Sụn Island, the landscape here can be divided into three parts. In the center lies the rocky mountain range extending into the sea closest to Yến Island, known as Gành Yến.

Here, visitors will witness the bustling scene of boats docking early in the morning with fresh sea fish, admire the venerable Nam Hải Shrine – a place preserving the spiritual essence of fishermen, enjoy the serene beauty of nature amidst the clear sky and water; marvel at moss-covered rock formations, ancient banyan trees, and a cluster of rugged rocks connecting the sandy beach to the towering casuarina groves.

Especially, during the first days of the month when the tide recedes, a seabed path will emerge connecting the shore to Sụn Island, straight to Yến Island. Travelers will have the opportunity to walk amidst the sea, gaze at the vibrant coral system in this colorful haven.

To reach Yến Island, there are two routes from Tuy Hòa city. From National Highway 1A heading north for 15 km, at the Phú Điềm intersection, turn right onto the concrete road and inquire the way to Nhơn Hội village. Alternatively, follow the coastal route starting from Lê Duẩn Street in the city center, passing through the An Phú, An Chấn, An Mỹ communes to reach Chợ Yến, then branch off to Yến Island through the coastal village roads.
