Insights into the community of Ancient City
Another name for the Ancient City is the Muang Boran ancient town, situated approximately 30km from the capital Bangkok in Samut Prakan province. This community is likened to a miniature Thailand, an expansive outdoor museum covering around 500 rais (200 acres). Muang Boran was constructed in 1963 and officially opened in 1972.

The original and faithfully reconstructed structures

Exquisitely crafted statues of Buddha
In this ancient city, a convergence of various architectural structures, ranging from temples, palaces, to sculptures, faithfully replicates the original. Ruins that have been destroyed are meticulously recreated at a 1:3 scale, with some structures even mirroring the exact 1:1 proportions.

Structures intertwined with historical significance

Buddhism deeply connected to the land of the Golden Temple
With the name Ancient City, this place truly embodies its ancient and venerable meaning, preserving cultural and historical values throughout the nation-building and nation-keeping process of the Golden Temple country.

What does Muang Boran Park offer?
Central Area - Recreating the periods of Ayutthaya and Rattanakosin
The central region of Muang Boran features architectural structures from various historical periods.
Dusit Maha Prasat Palace is a large-scale reproduction of the palace in Bangkok. Constructed by King Rama I in 1790, the Dusit Maha Prasat Hall is cruciform in shape. To the north of the palace, there is a golden-tiered pavilion known as Busasok, used by the king for public appearances.
During the reign of King Rama III, the palace underwent a complete renovation, departing from its original architecture. The current replica is reconstructed based on research from existing documents and ancient paintings.

Two temples, Prang Sam Yot and Wihan Phra Si Sanphet, have also been restored based on historical sources. The original structures of these temples were destroyed during the Thai-Laos War in 1767.
Sanphet Prasat - a replicated palace of the original in Ayutthaya (only the brick foundation remained after the 1767 fire). Currently, the palace has been meticulously restored almost to its original state.

The guardian giant fish protecting the Sumeru temple
Known as a miniature Thailand, Muang Boran, and the newly constructed Sumeru temple, stands out as a prominent gem in the heart of the ancient city. Despite its recent construction, this site leaves a powerful impression on any visitor. Situated in the center of the ancient village, the temple emerges amidst a serene blue lake, guided by a picturesque bridge. The entire scene resembles a fairy tale image, captivating and enchanting every traveler.

The divine fish safeguarding Sumeru
Adorned with traditional architecture, Sumeru Temple is embellished with red-tiled roofs, varying-height towers, and walls adorned with intricate patterns and paintings. Surrounding the temple are vibrant trees and flowers, creating a picturesque scene of beauty.
A distinctive feature of Sumeru is the image of the giant Anondha fish embracing the temple. According to legend, this magical fish protects the temple from external harm. The Anondha emerges from the water with its wide-open mouth, symbolizing the guardianship of Sumeru. Every detail of the deity is meticulously crafted, forming a vivid and lively picture.
Unique cultural background of the Sukhothai period
The northern region of the Ancient City preserves masterpieces from the Sukhothai period, such as the Grand Wall and Noen Prasat. The Noen Prasat complex includes remnants of ancient palaces from the Sukhothai era, discovered by King Raman III in 1824. What you see in the present community is a replica of the original structures.

Ancient and Revered Sukhothai
Additionally, the area boasts several iconic architectural structures like Wat Chong Kham, Ho Kham, and preserves remnants of the once-mighty Khmer empire in the northeast of Muang Boran. Historical parks featuring the renowned architecture of Angkor Wat, such as Phimai Park and Phanom Park in Buriram, are also meticulously recreated here.
Damnoen Saduak Floating Market and Traditional Thai Costume Rentals
The bustling village floating on the river, adorned with numerous stalls and bustling boats engaged in trade, is the highlight of the Ancient City. On market days or during peak tourist seasons, the lively scene of bustling boats creates a vibrant and laughter-filled atmosphere.

Marvel at seagulls at the Bang Pu Pier
Situated close to the Ancient City is a mesmerizing spot to observe seagulls gracefully soaring. Take the Song Theow #36 from here, ride to the end of the route, and when the driver turns the vehicle around, press the bell to disembark. The fare is 8 baht. Afterward, stroll approximately 1km to the entrance of Bang Pu Pier, enter the gate, and head to the beach to admire the seagulls.

Witnessing the majestic sky filled with seagulls

A breathtaking scenery unfolds
Here, marvel at the exquisite sunset over the sea while treating seagulls. In my opinion, it's best to admire the view rather than feed the birds. Not everyone is fortunate enough to encounter seagulls as there are times when only a few soar in. The sun usually sets around 5-6 pm, revealing the most stunning scenery. There's a beautiful restaurant and a small night market here; don't miss out, folks.
