The similarity between King and this character leaves fans intrigued.
Do you recall Wiper from One Piece? He was a character in the Skypiea storyline. Known as the leader of the Shandian warriors in the battle to reclaim Upper Yard from Enel.
Wiper possesses extremely refined combat skills, mainly revolving around utilizing Wavers-Skate to enhance both the power and speed of his kicks to swiftly defeat opponents. He also demonstrates exceptional endurance, surviving three uses of the Reject Dial without perishing, a feat considering most individuals would perish after one use. Moreover, he can generate an explosion with the Impact Dial at the back with minimal damage. It can be said that Wiper inherited some of his abilities from Calgara. He was able to battle on par with Luffy when they met on Upper Yard, as well as with Zoro in the Iron Challenge.
After King's face was revealed in One Piece 1035, astute fans noticed several similarities between King and Wiper. So, how do these connections unfold? Let's explore together.
1. Physical Characteristics
Firstly, concerning their appearance, both Wiper and King have wings on their backs, albeit with slight differences. Wiper's wings are small and white, resembling those of other Shandians. In contrast, King's wings are quite large and black.
Next, both are known to have dark skin. Specifically, in the anime, Wiper's skin is brown, while King's, as revealed in the manga, has a distinct hue.
2. Tattoo beside the left eye
Wiper and King both sport tattoos on the left side of their faces, around the eye. However, they differ slightly in design. King's resembles a leaf, whereas Wiper's resembles a crescent moon with an elongated line. Many believe this to be a distinctive symbol of their respective tribes.
3. Position of King and Wiper in their crew/tribe
King is known as the strongest subordinate of Kaido, but he is not the leader of the Beast Pirates. Meanwhile, Wiper is the strongest warrior of the Shandia, still standing under the tribe's chief. It can be said that both hold the position of being 'under one but above many'.
4. Situation of Shandia and Lunarians
Long ago, above the Red Line was the kingdom of gods, and the Lunarians lived there. However, now the peak of the Red Line has become the living place of Mary Geoise, while the Lunarians are believed to be extinct. Currently, the World Government is hunting down the remaining individuals, and just providing them with information about the Lunarians can earn a huge sum of money.
This indicates that the extinction of the Lunarians may be related to the World Government or those living on the Red Line. Meanwhile, in chapter 272, Nico Robin revealed that the city of Shandora was destroyed to protect the Poneglyphs. According to Robin, the books in the city were burned, and the city's history was erased. It seems that, in the Void Century, the great city of Shandora was attacked by some enemy.
Therefore, many believe that King and Wiper both seem to come from winged tribes and were both defeated by the World Government in the past. However, at least in Luffy's era, the Shandians are luckier than the Lunarians because only King remains as the sole surviving member of the tribe.
