In 1979, the People's Committee of Binh Tri Thien province proposed the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh Museum branch in Hue city and selected the location of house number 07 Le Loi as its headquarters. On September 16, 1980, the Ho Chi Minh Museum in Hue was officially established.
On June 30, 1982, the Ho Chi Minh Museum of Binh Tri Thien province became a member of the system of museums and memorial sites dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh under the direction and guidance of the central Ho Chi Minh Museum.

In 1989, after Binh Tri Thien province was divided into 3 provinces, the Ho Chi Minh Museum Binh Tri Thien became the Ho Chi Minh Museum branch of Thua Thien Hue province.
On the occasion of the 108th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth, the museum was officially started construction and inaugurated on May 19, 2000. On September 27, 2007, the Ho Chi Minh Museum Thua Thien Hue was ranked as a second-class museum.



After 42 years of operation, the Ho Chi Minh Museum in Thua Thien Hue has overcome difficulties, challenges, and integrated with the system of museums and memorial sites dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh nationwide.

Currently managing nearly 4000 documents and artifacts, 14 relics and relic sites, the Ho Chi Minh Museum in Thua Thien Hue has served and welcomed a large number of domestic and international visitors for sightseeing, learning, understanding, and research through various on-site exhibitions and mobile exhibitions.

The museum now stands as a 3-story building, with a total area of 2500 square meters, having 4 sides, resembling a distant white lotus. The architectural concept is truly novel, showcasing both traditional Hue architectural elements and modern features, exuding the spirit of President Ho Chi Minh, and harmonizing with the environmental landscape.

The museum is not only a place to display artifacts, documents, introduce the life and career, but also one of the cultural and spiritual activity centers of the people of Thua Thien Hue province. This is a notable new feature, demonstrating creative integration in exploiting functions and promoting the museum's social activities. Avoiding mistakes like some grand cultural constructions that are costly but occasionally visited by tourists.

The museum regularly organizes specialized exhibitions on the life and revolutionary activities of Uncle Ho, especially introducing to the public the original collections of Uncle Ho presented to the people of Thua Thien Hue and the boundless love of the people of Thua Thien Hue for Uncle Ho through artistic creations.

In addition, the Ho Chi Minh Museum in Thua Thien Hue also collaborates with many other agencies, units, and artists to organize specialized exhibitions to enrich the cultural activities of the unit.
