'Everyone experiences daydream moments, and mine is reliving my memories of Coto Island (Quang Ninh) - where I once had the most wonderful time of my life. A truly exciting journey, and I can only exclaim, 'Coto is amazing!'' (According to blog by Angela Koblitz)

Impressions of Coto Island
It was around September 2011. A trip to Coto Island could be considered a true adventure. I was quite puzzled about how to get there. We woke up at 4 am to reach Luong Yen bus station (Hanoi). From there, we traveled by bus for about 6 hours to reach Cai Rong port (Van Don - Quang Ninh). The experience we gained from this journey was one of 'adventure,' and it took us an additional half hour to reach the island.
However, things were not as easy as they seemed. On the way to the island, our boat encountered a storm, and I even got seasick. Upon arrival, we were detained by customs because Gerwin was white. At that time, for many sensitive reasons, foreigners were not allowed to enter the island. Now, I think there may be more open policies for foreigners.
We stayed at a small hotel where we were the only tourists. The hotel was in fairly good condition, and the manager was very friendly. He helped us with almost everything (including accompanying us with the police). Across from the hotel, there was a small restaurant with a menu featuring many local traditional dishes; the fresh seafood here is incredibly delicious. They can also prepare other dishes if customers request.

Unforgettable Memories of Coto Island
Four days of exploring Coto Island were undoubtedly the best time of my life. It's where I escaped the noise of the city. Here, you can only relax, listen to the sound of waves, and admire the sunset... It could be a perfect place for a romantic honeymoon.

I wish I could go back to Coto right now. It's been almost 3 years, and I know there will be many changes. I also know that Coto Island is now open to tourists, but I'm not sure if it's open to foreigners. I don't want Coto Island to become a tourist destination, but if you're in Vietnam and if you have the chance, I recommend you to visit Coto. Don't forget to let me know if you visit Coto! I love this island and wouldn't want to miss out if you're there.
