Discover the pristine beauty of Hồ Tà Đùng and Liêng Nung waterfall, leaving travelers in awe during a one to two-day tour.
Exploring Đắk Nông
From December to April is the dry season, perfect for exploring Đắk Nông (Central Highlands), thanks to the dry weather, making transportation convenient. Visitors don't need to wait for the rainy season to witness the powerful and majestic flows of rivers, lakes, and waterfalls. During the dry season, waterfalls in Đắk Nông have gentle flows, free from turbidity caused by carrying sediment.
Taking a coach from the Eastern Bus Station, Ho Chi Minh City to Gia Nghĩa City is the most convenient way to reach Đắk Nông, with ticket prices ranging from 150,000 to 380,000 VND depending on the type of vehicle. Covering a distance of about 200 km, the travel time is 4 to 5 hours. Travelers can depart from Ho Chi Minh City the night before or early in the morning. If not traveling by personal vehicle, it's advisable to rent a motorbike in Gia Nghĩa City, with prices starting from 70,000 VND per day.
Here are suggested itineraries for two days:
Start your journey from Miền Đông Bus Station after 10 PM to reach Gia Nghĩa Bus Station early in the morning. Have breakfast at the local market in the city center, then rent a motorbike to continue your trip to Lake Tà Đùng.
The lake is over 45 km away from the city center, often likened to the Halong Bay of the Central Highlands. When viewed from above, the scenery of the lake with more than 36 islands fluctuating in peculiar shapes is mesmerizing. Enjoying outdoor activities amidst the lake and observing it from above are two experiences highly favored by many tourists.
You can rent a boat to cruise around the islands, then select any island of your choice to relax. On the island, tourists usually set up tents, bringing their own food to cook in the midst of nature. The boat fare is 100,000 VND per person for round trip. If it's sunny at noon, the lake water warms up, and you can take a refreshing dip, with the boat owner providing life jackets.
Most visitors to Lake Tà Đùng capture a memorable aerial photograph. Along the road leading to the lake, you'll come across many corners offering panoramic views. Currently, a homestay facility has been set up with outdoor structures overlooking the lake, attracting many visitors for photography.

After exploration, camping overnight or staying at a homestay near the lake is an option for travelers who prefer not to return to Gia Nghĩa. If time is limited, you can shorten the journey in a day and also visit Liêng Nung waterfall.
Liêng Nung waterfall is approximately 12 km from Gia Nghĩa, nestled in the valley amidst mountains and forests. The waterfall is 30 meters high with the terrain of thick rock walls hollowed into the ground, forming caves, causing the water to flow straight down from the rock ceiling. The cave ceiling has a structure of hexagonal rock blocks fitting closely together like a giant beehive. The cave is not murky but has only tiny water droplets, where mosses thrive, forming a striking green carpet.

During your journey, if you plan for outdoor activities, it's advisable to prepare food and drinks right from Gia Nghĩa. Some homestays near Lake Tà Đùng also offer dining services. Grilled chicken, river fish, and bamboo rice are renowned local specialties.
The total cost for a trip to Đắk Nông is approximately one million dong per person.
