This mansion was constructed quite a while back, starting from 1937, and was renovated by the local residents and authorities in 1997. There are numerous sources suggesting that this seaside mansion has a much longer history, with its original construction dating back to the 17th century.

Dinh Cau stands prominently on a rocky promontory. A small stone bridge leads from the sand to the mansion. Passing through 29 stone steps, you enter the courtyard, surrounded by a cement wall. The main entrance of Dinh Cau faces East towards the sea. The main hall is solemn and beautifully decorated. Inside, there are statues of deities worshipped by the local fishermen, who revere Tài and Quý for protecting the lives of the fishermen in the fishing village.

Due to its modern architectural style, Dinh Cau is constructed with sturdy and contemporary materials. From a distance, Dinh Cau resembles a miniature fortress, protected by surrounding rocky cliffs. On the rocky promontory, tall trees provide shade and coolness. The Sop tree on Dinh Cau, with a lifespan of nearly a century, has endured years of sea winds and mist. The greenery on the rocks symbolizes the vigorous life of coastal residents and serves as a focal point for visitors to Dinh Cau.

Embracing a refreshing natural panorama caressed by the winds of all seasons, each wave gently kisses the ancient moss-covered edges. Beyond its renowned spiritual sanctity, visitors can stroll along the expansive stretch of white sandy coastline. The waves, especially during the dry season, bear the brunt of the Northeast monsoon winds, intensifying their force. In the rainy season, the coast experiences the distinctive influence of the Southeast winds, accompanied by abundant rainfall. However, during this period, Dinh Cau welcomes splendid sunny days, with the azure sea shimmering endlessly under the golden sun, a sight that never tires the eyes.
The coastal inhabitants primarily earn their livelihood through fishing, casting their nets into the sea to sustain their lives. They warmly welcome visitors, embodying the sincere and rustic charm of coastal dwellers.
Numerous legends surround Dinh Cau, recounting tales of seafaring communities whose lives revolve around the tumultuous waves and winds. Amidst perilous voyages where uncertainty looms, there emerged tales of miraculous guidance. Once, a fishing expedition ventured far from shore, losing sight of land. Their loved ones anxiously awaited their return, fearing the worst. Yet, as fog obscured their bearings, a towering rock emerged on the horizon. It served as an otherworldly beacon, guiding the weary sailors back to safety, a testament to the mystical allure of Dinh Cau.
The rocky promontory is deemed a symbol of blessings for the local populace. Hence, the elders erected a shrine upon it. Through the ebbs and flows of time, fishermen have frequented the shrine to pay respects and refurbish the Cau Shrine as it stands today. Initially dedicated to the deity Long Vuong to bless fishermen, it later honored two guardian spirits who safeguarded and imparted livelihood skills to the people venturing into the sea. However, numerous tales and legends surrounding the Cau Shrine further imbue this place with mystical allure amidst the vast ocean.
The worship of the Cau Shrine bears resemblance to the generalized practice of ancestor worship. On a broader note, it reflects a form of maternal reverence in the Southern region. Folk beliefs surrounding ancestor worship in the Southern part of Vietnam are not overly concerned with the origins of deities but are influenced by new cultural elements and the cultural interplay from the North. Presently, the worship of Cau Shrine in Phu Quoc enriches the folk beliefs of the Vietnamese people.

The Dinh Cau festival occurs on the 15th and 16th of the 10th lunar month every year. During this time, people eagerly parade flags and drums to the Dinh Cau shrine, praying for favorable weather and safe voyages for fishermen and their boats teeming with seafood.
