If you want to experience happiness, come to Hà Giang in spring!
As a tradition, every Lunar New Year, we always set aside a small amount of time to visit this special old friend. The trip is to reminisce, to cherish more, and to feel that for us, Hà Giang is always a special love no matter how many years have passed.

The spring scenery of Hà Giang on the high rocky plateau
The weather in the capital city always brings along a few damp drizzles around February, making those accustomed to market visits suddenly yearn for the spring features on the peculiar rocky plateau. After a nod of agreement from Ha without hesitation, we hastily packed our belongings, catching the last bus of the day from Mỹ Đình bus station to Hà Giang.
Spring flowers covering the sky in Hà Giang
Every year, we visit the frontier land, yet the excited feeling still stirs in our hearts along with numerous small questions. Unlike the traditional red hues dominating during Tet and the arrival of spring elsewhere, springtime in Hà Giang presents a unique and ever-changing landscape each year. Sometimes, the highland bursts into the pure white of plum blossoms, apricot blossoms, or immerses in the bright yellow of fields of mustard flowers, marigolds. And there are also years when the entire rocky region blooms with cherry blossoms, covering the sky, with the resilient colors blossoming all over the rocky mountains, stunningly beautiful.

Exploring Hà Giang Amidst the Covid-19 Pandemic
Amidst the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Hà Giang is among the provinces that have reopened tourism with strict management of the number of people entering and exiting the province. Upon boarding, everyone is provided with a form to declare their health status and provide specific information about their itinerary. After a journey of over 5 hours, upon reaching the checkpoint for disease prevention, the entire bus will be guided to have their body temperature checked and undergo detailed inspections within the control area. Upon completing the procedures, each person is issued a red-stamped paper tube - this is the pass to travel around Hà Giang during this period.
And remember, always adhere to the 5K recommendations from the Ministry of Health to protect yourself and beloved Hà Giang at any time!

Journey to Explore Hà Giang and Admire the Fresh Beauty of the Rocky Flower Land in Springtime
Arriving at the city bus station at 5 a.m., the sky is still dark at this time. The light raindrops, influenced by the recent cold air, have lowered the temperature in Hà Giang significantly compared to a few days ago. Still, there are warm smiles and familiar questions from Ms. Giang - the lovely and enthusiastic owner of Giang Sơn motorcycle rental shop, eagerly waiting to greet us and the group of 10 guests traveling in the same vehicle.
We stored our belongings and went up to the room to rest with eager anticipation for the dawn to start our journey of exploring the beautiful plateau.
The children at Lao Xa are always the reason why we must visit this place, because of the adorable and innocence of the kids.
Embarking once again on the familiar 300 km route, starting from Hà Giang City, passing through Đồng Văn, Mèo Vạc, and returning to the city, but this year's 3-day 2-night exploration is a journey filled with countless lucky moments for the married couple, creating unforgettable memories.
This spring, we immersed ourselves completely in the vibrant colors of Hà Giang's spring.

We were overwhelmed with joy at the sight of the blossoming peach and plum flowers in the Phó Bảng, Lao Xa area. It's indescribable to witness the beautiful golden mustard flower fields on the legendary Nine Horseshoe Pass. And once again, the wonderful moment arrived. Hà and I couldn't help but shout with delight as the buckwheat fields were still incredibly beautiful, basking in the magical sunlight on the hillsides. Even though it's now February, and in the final days of the Lunar New Year, usually by now the buckwheat flowers have faded. So, to witness the stone flowers of Hà Giang at this moment is truly a miraculous encounter that we were fortunate to experience.

Moreover, the experience of boating on the river allowed us to admire up close the magnificence of the legendary Tu Sản Gorge and to touch the stunning azure waters of the Nho Quế River. The journey of over 8km, navigating through 47 hairpin bends, to touch the Nho Quế River was one of the unforgettable memories in our exploration of the high plateau.

After the trip, as we lay on the bed, burying our heads into familiar pillows, our minds still wandered through the beautiful images of the rocky mountain region. The sound of the Mông brother's soulful flute on the Mã Pí Lèng Pass echoed in our ears. And then we reproached ourselves, why didn't we allocate just one more day, only one more day, to get closer to those unforgettable experiences.

And then just wanting to send someone a “Love Warning” that says: “Never go to Hà Giang if you don't want to become a foolish romantic, embracing thousands of lovesick woes every day like us”.
