Hearing the name might seem strange, even to the locals of Nha Trang because traditionally, on many documents and media, this place has been referred to as Bamboo Grove Beach.
Touring Nha Trang, heading to Lucky Cove

'We're foolish, seeking solitude'
However, the few remaining locals here have emphasized to us multiple times that 'che' means 'to shelter.' If lucky enough to set foot here, travelers will easily understand why it's named this way.
Nha Trang tourism is bustling now. The tales of traffic jams and congestion are not only complaints from tourists or locals but have even reached national media outlets.
Excited about the blossoming development of our beloved coastal region, yet hesitant when urged by friends to return for a visit after so long. Upon returning, however, I set the criteria to only seek solitude in remote locations. Fortunately, the journey to the secluded Che Beach proved serendipitous.
Initially skeptical about the notion of a beach lying on Hon Tre Island, given the modern resorts, bustling tourist areas, and artificial constructions prevalent on the nearby large island not far from the city of Nha Trang.
Yet, a nod of assurance and a glimpse at a few photos shared by acquaintances from their previous trip put my mind at ease... before embarking on the canoe. As wished, our group was the sole inhabitant of Che Beach that night, despite it being a weekend and even a full moon.

Expanding on the notion of 'serendipity' mentioned earlier, it's not solely about economic conditions or weather. Many years ago, we frequented Tru Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Nha Trang, also on Hon Tre Island.
Back then, it was tranquil, with only a peaceful fishing village, but we eventually bid farewell in search of other pristine corners after the tourist area was developed.
Now, rumors abound regarding Che Beach entering the spotlight, with plans for development by the Nha Trang tourism authorities. Tourism development necessitates various services and amenities tailored to individual preferences and needs. However, for those who cherish unspoiled nature, the opportunity to visit Che Beach before development will be truly fortuitous.

“Love each other, love the journey and the way back.”
In the blazing afternoon sun, the sky suddenly turned gray as the canoe headed towards Che Beach. Yet, the sea remained eerily calm as we entered the embrace of the beautiful bay.
Perhaps that's why the bay was named to shelter boats from fierce storms at sea.
Surrounded by two stretches of mountains reaching out to the sea, the smooth white sand curves gently from east to west, offering a fascinating view of both sunrise and sunset over the ocean. If you happen to visit on a full moon night, you'll be rewarded with a vividly serene moonlit night.
Only three simple huts serve tourists along with the islanders' genuine hospitality. But understanding the guests of the selfie era, they've added a few more touches like pristine white umbrellas, some vibrant decorations, a floating bridge, and bamboo hammocks for resting or whatever theatrical props one desires...
The only remnant is a slightly ostentatious floral gate, probably set up by someone who once came here for wedding photos. However, it adds a touch of glamour to the pictures. When posing on the white sand beach, as the tide rises, the shadows sway gracefully on the water's surface, serene like a lake.

The combination of gold and blue exudes grandeur. Blue intertwined with white suddenly transitions to purity... offering various picturesque angles for both gentlemen and ladies. Add in the backdrop of a smooth white sandy beach, with expansive scenery of green mountains embracing clusters of bushes, swaying gently with coconut shadows.
A rugged rocky shore sets a contrasting tone against the abundant hues of the sea. Yet, it must be said that no matter how enthusiastically one indulges in activities, visitors should make an effort to witness the beautiful dawn, akin to eager photographers whispering to each other about capturing moments on forums. Perhaps it was fortunate (luck strikes again!) that the sunrise that day was remarkably vibrant.
Another highlight of the trip to Che Beach is that the canoe departs not from the Cau Da seaport but from a small pier by the Cai River. Hence, there will be quite a few unique and beautiful frames for tourists to snap away, a rarity to capture multiple intriguing shots all in one horseback riding trip to admire the flowers.
From the verdant Champa islet to the imposing Poh Nagar Tower, the graceful Tran Phu Bridge to the petite and charming Tu Ton Pagoda atop Red Islet, to a bustling green fishing port with resting boats... What adds to the excitement is that the Cai River suddenly changes color that day due to rain somewhere upstream, tinting the mouth of the sea with a mesmerizing golden hue that gradually fades as it reaches the vast ocean.
Still half a day left awaiting the night train back to Saigon. Passing through the bustling streets of Nha Trang, reminiscing every moment of serene and beautiful island life, recalling the simple stories of the gentle islanders... Surely, one must return here soon. And not just once!
“So delicious,” “so satisfying” every time!
