Mission Hills Golf Club was officially established in 1992, but it wasn't until 1993 that it became a public golf course, open to everyone for visitation and experience. In February 1994, the Shenzhen city government signed an agreement with the International Golf Association, helping Mission Hills become the venue for the 1995 World Cup Of Golf. This was the first international-scale golf tournament held in China, becoming a source of pride not only for the people of Shenzhen but also for the entire nation. According to statistics, the tournament attracted over 30,000 spectators, lining up to witness the fierce competition between the top American golf teams, Fred Couples and Davis Love III.
