Bus
Upon arrival at Phu Quoc Island, you'll need to take a bus or taxi to reach Duong Dong town (the center of Phu Quoc) and the resorts in the North Island. The distance from the port to the town is quite far, about 15 km, so it will take around 30 to 40 minutes to get there. The roads in Phu Quoc are currently not in great condition, so Mytour advises you to avoid traveling by motorbike, especially if you have a lot of luggage. The one-way bus fare is 40,000 VND per person, and the bus will take you directly to your hotel.
Taxi
Currently, there are 3 taxi companies operating on Phu Quoc Island: Sasco (077 3767 676), Mai Linh (077 3979 797), and Hoang Long (077 3988 988). Due to the geographical nature, fuel prices on the island are relatively high, with taxi fares being around 17,000 VND per kilometer. Since the tourist attractions in Phu Quoc are not close to each other, traveling by taxi can be quite expensive. Mytour advises you to use a taxi only for transportation from the airport to your hotel and vice versa.
Motorbike
Renting a motorbike to explore Phu Quoc is an amazing experience you should definitely try. Although the road system is not yet complete, if you want to test your two-wheeler riding skills, this is a rare opportunity. There are still traffic police on main roads like Tran Hung Dao, so make sure to follow traffic rules such as maintaining the speed limit, staying in the designated lane, wearing a helmet, not carrying more than two people, avoiding weaving in and out, and not zigzagging. You can directly contact the hotel where you're staying to rent a motorbike. The price for manual motorbikes is around 150,000 VND per person per day, and for scooters, it's about 180,000 VND per person per day, excluding fuel.
The beautiful routes that Mytour recommends you to explore include the route to the North Island and through Phu Quoc National Park. You'll witness long stretches of pristine beaches without a soul in sight or panoramic views in the national forest. Sometimes, you'll have to conquer roads that look like dried-up streams. In the South Island, it's advisable to join a local day tour, exploring the sim garden, prison, fish sauce factories, pearl farms, Bai Sao beach, and taking a boat tour to An Thoi archipelago (fishing, snorkeling, swimming). The tour price is around 250,000 VND per person. It's not recommended to ride a motorbike when exploring the South Island due to long distances, dust, and challenging terrain.
