After much contemplation, we steadfastly decided to cast aside the mundane routines, our entire group venturing towards the mountainous region of Tay Giang, the province's most remote area.
Embarking on an unconventional journey through Quang Nam against the scenic backdrop of West Giang

A mix of surprise and delight fills the air as I sit behind the wheel, the unfamiliarity inadvertently stirring a myriad of captivating emotions for the traveler.
There are stretches where both sides of the road showcase vast, lush tea plantations, occasionally weaving through the beautiful dream-like forest of keo and reed trees… The higher we ascend, the more suspenseful it becomes as vehicles traverse numerous challenging hills and winding passes.
After more than four hours of travel from Da Nang, upon setting foot in Tay Giang, all weariness seems to vanish. We've heard much, spoken much, but now, at this moment, we witness the raw beauty—simultaneously unfamiliar and intimate.
An endless expanse of green mountains and forests stretches infinitely, with overlapping echoes running into the distance. Faintly, in the distance, a few houses of the Co Tu ethnic group lie hidden amidst the rugged, tranquil wilderness. Childhood memories rush back with the scent of wood smoke rising from the simple, rustic homes.
In the early morning, after a restful night, stroll leisurely along the undulating path. Occasionally, catch the friendly smiles of Co Tu children welcoming guests, and the weariness of everyday life seems to dissipate into the mist hovering over the trees and mountain peaks.

From the mountainous center of Tay Giang district, venture towards Lang commune, occasionally coming across houses with interconnected platforms…
Immerse yourself in the simplicity of the traditional Co Tu village, with distinctive structures like gươl houses, moong houses, and unique longhouses featuring characteristic architecture and intricate carvings—a truly special experience.
If fortunate, distant travelers may join in the traditional activities of the local community here.
As the night fog descends, the villagers gather in crowded homes, cheerful handshakes welcoming guests followed by the lively sounds of laughter, conversations, and warm inquiries…
Amidst the roaring flames and resonant bells, young Co Tu women with rosy cheeks gracefully pour glasses of inviting wine, forming a circle as they sway to the traditional dance—tang tung - za za.
The rich aroma of bamboo rice, smoked meat, and a plate of forest sticky rice, along with the three-leafed wild ginger wine, warms everyone's hearts.
As night falls, the higher altitudes grow colder. The flames continue to flicker, the bells echo, and the elder's voice resonates with tales of ancient times and the glorious history that has passed…

In recent years, Tây Giang has become an increasingly popular destination on Quang Nam - Da Nang tours.
Despite the challenging mountainous terrain, once you arrive and leave this place, every traveler is sure to carry many memories—tiny stilt houses, the sound of bells… and the endless greenery along with the deep, inquisitive eyes of Co Tu children, enticing visitors to return once more.
