Tips for Exploring Singapore Zoo
When visiting the Lion City, don't miss out on a trip to Singapore Zoo - this fascinating green jungle. Drawing from my Singapore travel experiences, here are some 'hacks' to ensure you have the most complete tour.
Ideal Timing
Singapore boasts a mild climate, making it possible to visit the island nation at any time of the year. Note down a few key timings to make the most of your zoo visit:
- Singapore Zoo opens from 08:30 to 18:00, so plan your schedule accordingly.
- It's best to visit during the summer months (April - September) for the most favorable weather.
- If you want to experience breakfast with wild animals, then come here on weekends.

A visit to Singapore Zoo may take about 3 hours
Ticket Buying Tips
You can purchase tickets directly at the gate when you arrive, but I advise you to buy them on the Singapore Zoo website. If you buy tickets online, you can get a 10% discount and won't have to wait in line to buy tickets at the gate anymore. Just present your transaction to exchange for tickets or print them out at the counter to enter the park.
Getting to Singapore Zoo
Singapore Zoo is located at 80 Mandai Lake Road, about a 30-minute drive from the city center. The most economical way to travel from the city center to here is by MRT and bus, costing only around $2. Below are some bus routes you can take to the zoo:
- Take the MRT to Choa Chu Kang station, then catch bus 927.
- Take the MRT to Ang Mo Kio station, then catch bus 138.
- Take the MRT to Marsiling station, then catch bus 926.

You can take Singapore Zoo's free shuttle bus back to the city center
Additionally, you can also take advantage of Singapore Zoo's complimentary shuttle service to NS14 station. However, there is no return service on this route, and the shuttle operates only from 2 pm to 5 pm, so if you want to save some extra costs, you can consider this option.
Dining at Singapore Zoo
There is only one dining option here, which is Ah Meng Restaurant. Therefore, this place tends to be crowded, especially during lunchtime. The restaurant has two different areas for you to choose from:
- Indoor area: dine-in with air conditioning, but the space is small and tables often fill up quickly.
- Outdoor area: no air conditioning but more spacious, providing a comfortable dining experience.

Ah Meng Restaurant hides within the vast zoo garden
Singapore Zoo not only brings lush greenery but also countless exciting experiences alongside incredibly intelligent wildlife. Follow Mytour's travel guide to discover more about popular destinations in Singapore!
