The work 'The Wife Picker' printed in the collection 'The Ugly Dog' (1962) is evidence of this. In this short story, one of the outstanding creations of the writer Kim Lan is the art of depicting the psychology of characters, especially the psychological development of Mrs. Tu - a kind-hearted, generous farmer mother.
In 'The Wife Picker,' Kim Lan has created the image of the mother - Mrs. Tu with truly complex and vivid emotional developments from the evening of the previous day to the morning after her son Trang gets married.
