2008 marked the inaugural year of Danang hosting the international fireworks festival themed 'Dance of the Mermaids', featuring competing teams from China, Canada, Malaysia, and Vietnam.
The opening ceremony was impressive with the graceful performance of the Chinese team, the vibrancy and liveliness in the performance style of Malaysia,... However, it was Canada that brought a professional, modern, and very delicate performance, helping them clinch the championship title.

Following the success of 2008, the Danang International Fireworks Festival in 2009, themed 'Echoes of the Han River', was met with enthusiastic response from the locals. During this period, the number of tourists flocking to Danang significantly increased. In fact, Danang hostels were always fully booked.
The 2009 competition was a great success thanks to the competition among 5 countries: Australia, China, Philippines, Spain, and Vietnam. With their performance titled 'The Love Story of Mount Luong Son - Truc Anh Palace', the Chinese team secured the highest victory.

With the theme 'Legends of the Han River', the Danang International Fireworks Festival in 2010 attracted a large number of tourists to Danang from the very beginning. The participating units in the 2010 performance included: Vietnam, Japan, Portugal, France, and the United States.
