In Da Lat, one of the most captivating tourist spots is the ‘Crazy House’ located on Huynh Thuc Khang Street.
This house, initiated in 1990 and ongoing, has bewildered not only domestic travelers but also international visitors to Da Lat.
Conceived and passionately constructed by Dr. Dang Viet Nga, this unique dwelling has become a focal point amidst the charming city surrounded by a thousand pine trees. Through architectural language, the doctor aims to reconnect people with nature, fostering closeness and affection instead of exploiting and destroying it. The Crazy House compound, with its numerous caves and alleys adorned with peculiar figures, features enlarged creatures like bees, earth spiders, deer bears, leaving visitors in awe of these distinctive and incredibly creative concepts.
Crazy House was primarily built during the period 1990 – 2010, with a central theme of creating cozy, convenient, and even mystical rooms within the trunks of trees and sawed-off rock slabs. Despite the unconventional setting, one can find not only warm spaces but also enchanting castle-like structures. The site also houses cafes, souvenir shops, and hotels for extended stays, allowing guests to fully explore this peculiar abode.
