Beyond dust filtration, LG APF air conditioners can alert you to pollution levels and efficiently save energy.
1. How LG Air Conditioners Filter Dust
Alongside dust-filtering capabilities, LG APF air conditioners can warn about pollution levels and effectively conserve energy.
A real-world test on the bacteria-killing and dust-filtering effectiveness of LG APF air purifying air conditioners was recently conducted by LG in a residential building in Hanoi.
Integrated with a PM 1.0 sensor, the air conditioner features the ability to detect tiny harmful particles, approximately 1µm in size, invisible to the naked eye. It alerts pollution levels in the air.

Alerts and Dust Filtration

The test was conducted in an approximately 18m2 room in Tay Ho district. The actual dust concentration measured at 4 p.m. under sunny weather included a PM2.5 index of 49 micrograms/m3 and a PM10 index of 150 micrograms/m3.
Among these, PM2.5 and PM10 dust indices represent ultrafine particles with sizes of 2.5 and 10 micrometers, respectively.
As a result, the control panel on LG's APF air conditioner displayed a yellow alert, indicating that the air quality was not genuinely healthy.

After 15 minutes of operating the air conditioner, both PM2.5 and PM10 indices decreased by approximately 40%, reaching 30 micrograms/m3 for PM2.5 and 91 micrograms/m3 for PM10.
After half an hour, the dust level continued to decrease significantly by 50%, with PM2.5 at only 26 micrograms/m3 and PM10 at 78 micrograms/m3.

LG's Second Test: A Night of Efficiency and Clean Air

After 8 hours of air conditioner operation, PM2.5 levels dropped to a mere 4 micrograms/m3, and PM10 was at 26 micrograms/m3. At this point, the control panel displayed a green notification, indicating safe and clean indoor air.
The dust filtration results after 2 and 8 hours showed levels safe for user health.
According to the manufacturer, using the LG APF air conditioner for 8 hours every night will cost users only between 60,000 to 95,000 VND per month on their electricity bill, equivalent to approximately 24 - 29 kWh per month.
Energy Saving
LG demonstrated the results through two 8-hour air conditioner runs overnight. The air conditioner maintained room temperature consistently according to the set control. Power consumption per test session was as follows: 0.784 kWh at 27°C and 0.938 kWh at 26°C.

Latest research from the World Health Organization ranks Hanoi as the second most polluted city and Ho Chi Minh City as the fifteenth in Southeast Asia. Hanoi claims twelfth position in the list of the world's most polluted capitals. According to LG experts, the test apartment exceeds the area capacity of the tested air conditioner (9000BTU), so if the area is smaller, the energy-saving efficiency will be even better.
Also, according to WHO, the acceptable level of fine dust PM2.5 in the air is 10 µg/m3. By reducing the PM2.5 dust concentration from 35 micrograms/m3 to 10 micrograms/m3, the risk of death due to air pollution can be reduced by about 15%.

Installing an air purifier to reduce indoor pollution has become a preferred solution for many families. The LG APF air purifying air conditioner is currently priced from 12.9 million VND to 14.8 million VND.
