After years of development, Lenovo introduces the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i, an intriguing dual-screen laptop with high flexibility in usage. Although the machine was introduced in early 2023, I've only recently had the opportunity to get my hands on the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i in Vietnam. Let's Unbox the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i and See What's Inside!

The packaging of the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i is designed in a rectangular shape with a black-gray color scheme accented with white spots. This design reminds me of high-end, luxurious granite stones. Additionally, the top of the packaging features the brand name and the vibrant orange Lenovo Yoga series name.

Upon opening the packaging, we'll find the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i along with accompanying accessories such as: Keyboard, stylus pen, charger, keyboard cover (doubles as a laptop stand, pen holder clip), charger, and a foldable blackboard (used as a laptop stand).

Overall, the packaging contains all the necessary accessories for us to fully utilize the various features of the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i.

Hands-On with the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i: Elegant and Flexible Design

In terms of overall exterior, the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i doesn't have many differences compared to a traditional ultrabook model. Similar to many other Lenovo laptop models released in recent years, the YOGA Book 9i aims for minimalism in design but still exudes elegance and sophistication.

The Lenovo YOGA Book 9i is crafted from a single block of aluminum with a glossy surrounding frame. Additionally, the frame of the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i is gently curved at the edges and corners, giving the device a soft and agile appearance. Furthermore, the A surface of the machine is textured to minimize fingerprint smudges and sweat, allowing users to easily clean the device.

According to the manufacturer's announcement, the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i weighs only about 1.34 kg, a typical figure for a high-end ultrabook laptop. However, during actual usage, I felt that the machine was heavier than the stated figure. This could be because Lenovo has tightly integrated the internal components.

Similar to some previous ultrabook products from Lenovo, the YOGA Book 9i model has limited connectivity ports to maintain the device's slim profile. On the left side of the machine, there is 1 USB-C port, and on the other side, there are 2 USB-C ports. All these USB-C ports adhere to Thunderbolt 4 standards (supporting data transfer, Power Delivery 3.0, and DisplayPort 1.4). Additionally, the right side of the machine features a camera privacy shutter and a power button.

Due to the limited number of ports on the YOGA Book 9i, users may opt for wireless connectivity accessories or use a HUB to expand the connectivity ports.

The Lenovo YOGA Book 9i is also equipped with the familiar 360-degree rotating hinge of the YOGA product line. However, the interesting point lies in the fact that this hinge also serves as the placement for the 360-degree speaker array. I commend Lenovo for this design, as it maintains the slim profile of the YOGA Book 9i while minimizing hardware issues associated with integrating speakers into the bezel.

Of course, the speakers of the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i are not just for show when tuned by Bowers & Wilkins (a leading global speaker brand). Therefore, the sound produced by the laptop is extremely vibrant with loud volume.

Explore the Versatility of Using 2 Screens with the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i

The standout feature of the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i is the integration of 2 screens on the A and B sides. This screen duo both boast a 13.3-inch size, 2.8K resolution (2,880 x 1,800 pixels), operate on sharp OLED panels, and support multitouch. In my experience, both the upper and lower screens of the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i deliver sharp image quality, vibrant colors, and eye-catching displays.

Furthermore, both screens of the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i meet 100% DCI-P3 standard, DisplayHDR True Black 500 standard, Low Blue Light, Eyesafe, Dolby Vision, and have a maximum brightness of 400 nits. With these certified specifications, the display experience on the YOGA Book 9i is sure to impress.

Lenovo has also cleverly optimized both software and hardware to make the experience of using the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i smooth and seamless. When you want to use it as a conventional laptop, you simply perform the gesture of tapping 8 fingers on the lower screen and the keyboard, and the virtual TouchPad will immediately appear. The virtual keyboard system and the 2 left/right mouse buttons on the TouchPad of the YOGA Book 9i are also equipped with haptic feedback vibration by Lenovo.

Additionally, you can use the included Bluetooth keyboard when you want a familiar typing feel. This keyboard also has a rubber pad on the back so you can place it on the screen and minimize scratches. When the keyboard is placed on the upper half of the secondary screen, the virtual TouchPad will appear below, and you can use the YOGA Book 9i as a conventional laptop.

In case we place the keyboard on the lower half of the secondary screen, at this point the YOGA Book 9i will display content similar to some of the dual-screen laptops on the market today. However, the transition between these two modes still has some stuttering, and I think it may be due to the product not being well optimized in terms of software.

You can also utilize both screens of the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i by placing the device directly on the accompanying case. Thanks to the sturdy hinge, whether placed vertically or horizontally, I felt confident even with strong vibrations.

To fully utilize the touch screen, the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i is also equipped with a stylus pen so users can work and take notes or turn the secondary screen into a sketchboard for drawing. Of course, there are many other ways to use the YOGA Book 9i, but I will share more details in the review of the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i in the near future.

Lenovo YOGA Book 9i features powerful specifications with 13th generation Intel Core i7 chip

Before going into detail, I'll summarize the specifications of the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i for everyone to reference.

Therefore, I consider the Intel Core i7-1355U chip from Intel to be the most reasonable choice, ensuring strong, stable performance and power efficiency. Not only that, the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i also integrates Intel Xe Graphics cores, providing superior performance, promising to handle graphics-related tasks such as design, video rendering, or gaming effectively.

In addition, the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i is equipped with 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, allowing you to multitask comfortably to make the most of the dual screens. Along with that, the device also has a 1 TB capacity for downloading apps, videos, games without worrying too much about internal memory.

Furthermore, the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i features an 80 Wh battery, combined with the power-saving capability of the Intel Core i7-1355U chip, allowing the device to provide long-lasting usage without charging.

Conclusion

Overall, the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i is a product with excellent build quality, offering more diverse usage scenarios than traditional laptops. Moreover, the Lenovo YOGA Book 9i is superbly optimized in both hardware and software, providing a great user experience.
