Just stumbled upon this fascinating timepiece worn by my colleague, so here's a quick review for you all to enjoy.

But before delving into its specifics, let's unravel the meaning behind its name:

Firstly, the term Powermatic 80 signifies that this line of products can reserve power for up to 80 hours. Essentially, if you fully wind it (either manually or using the crown), it can operate continuously for the next 80 hours without requiring additional winding.

Carson represents a distinguished line of products by the brand, with 'Premium' denoting its exceptional qualities compared to other models within the same range.

Things I Love

1. Case Design: I really appreciate the harmonious design of this watch. Despite its 40mm size, the compact lugs hug the wrist nicely, making it suitable for those with wrists around 16cm.

2. Steel Quality: It's unclear how the non-Premium versions fare, but the steel quality of this watch is superb for its price range. It remains shiny and beautiful despite my careless usage.

3. Slim Profile: At 10.3mm, it's already considered thin in this segment. Thanks to its clever design, when worn, the bottom part is concealed under the wearer's wrist. Looking at it, you'd feel like it's only around 6-7mm thin.

4. Crystal: The curved sapphire crystal provides excellent visual effects, enhancing the overall aesthetics.

5. Dial: Designed with a dual sun-brushed finish. Despite both layers being sun-brushed, they're finished in different ways, creating a visually pleasing effect when illuminated.

6. Date Only, No Day: Somehow, I'm not fond of watches with day indicators; they tend to clutter the dial.

7. The Powermatic movement supports an 80-hour power reserve, reducing the need to reset the watch frequently due to it running out of power.

8. Serendipitous Calendar: This term is derived from the word 'serendipity,' implying that the calendar is positioned at the 6 o'clock mark on the dial. Personally, I find it more balanced than having the calendar at 3 o'clock.

9. And finally, the indices: I absolutely adore the indices on this watch. The Roman numeral indices are delicately drawn, with proportions that I find just right. The blued indices undergo a mesmerizing color transformation under various light sources, creating an eye-catching allure.

In this price range, it's challenging to find a Swiss watch with true blued indices. Note that many watches feature blue-colored indices, but they're painted. Painted indices never achieve the stunning shine and vibrant blue hue of the 'real deal'.

The elements of the dial, blued hands, and Roman numeral indices truly embody the 'Premium' essence of this product's name. Without the Premium designation, this Carson line would feature plain white or black dials with steel hands.

Things I Dislike

1. Borrowed items come with a return policy. 😁

2. This curved glass with AR coating provides a delightful viewing experience.

Should You Buy It?

Definitely worth buying in this price range. I've noticed overseas websites offering discounts on this watch, bringing the price to under 13 million VND when shipped to Vietnam. You can either place an order or use a shipping service. I've already ordered one myself; it's affordable and wears nicely.

Or if you're feeling really eager to buy, you can find many shops with available stock, but the prices will be higher. Of course, they have to cover costs and make a profit, right? :D

Note that due to its 40mm size and 45mm Lug to Lug, wrists should ideally be at least 16mm wide. My wrist measures 17cm, with a wrist circumference of 53mm.
