Unveiling the Wonders of Duo Waterfall in Quang Ninh – A Legend of Beautiful Love
Duo Waterfall Quang Ninh is located approximately 15km from the center of Quang Son commune. Travelers need to cover 14km to reach Quang Son commune and then continue another 14km to reach Tai Chi village. To access Duo Waterfall, visitors must follow the footsteps of the locals who are familiar with this land. Since there is currently no direct road to the waterfall, one must traverse streams or forest paths, requiring appropriate footwear.

There are two routes to reach Duo Waterfall, one suitable for motorcycles through natural apricot hills. In May, apricot blossoms adorn the hills, and by July, the hills are painted with the purple hues of ripe apricots.

Another route to Duo Waterfall is a trekking trail. This shortcut leads through the heart of streams and pristine forests, offering a glimpse of entirely natural landscapes with large and small, uniquely shaped rocks.

Deep within the forest lie ancient, majestic trees and a variety of precious herbs and medicinal plants. The forest floor is covered with wild dong leaves, a vital ingredient for making traditional square sticky rice cakes during the Tet festival. Along the stream, clusters of wild banana trees bloom and bear fruit.

Surrounding the Duo Waterfall is the pristine conservation forest of Hai Ha district. These untouched forests play a crucial role in preserving water for the Hà Cối and Tai Chi rivers, serving as the primary water source for agricultural activities in the district.
After traversing a 3km forest trail, you'll arrive at the waterfall. Standing at 10m tall, the cascading water splits into two streams before flowing into a wide pool with crystal-clear water, revealing the rocky bottom. Duo Waterfall originates from the Cao Ba Lanh mountain spring, flowing through Tai Chi village and descending along the Hà Cối river. The waterfall provides water for thousands of hectares of forests and fields belonging to the locals.

The legend of Duo Waterfall in Quang Ninh has been passed down through generations: Once upon a time, a Dao ethnic couple deeply in love faced a threat from mesmerized supernatural beings who planned to take the beautiful girl as their wife. The couple, aware of the danger, fled and crossed a stream, leaving them with bleeding legs. One day, the supernatural beings chased them to the Tai Chi river.

The duo jumped into the river, and the supernatural beings threw rocks to block the river flow. The couple transformed into two waterfalls, surpassing a large rock that formed the central point, subduing the supernatural beings. This tale of divided yet reunited water streams forming a lake reflects the essence of true love, enduring separation but eventually coming back together.

Exploring Duo Waterfall in Quang Ninh, visitors also get to discover the cultural richness of the Dao ethnic community. These people preserve a myriad of unique traditional cultural aspects that have endured through the ages.
In Ly Quang village, Mrs. Dieng Chong Senh was honored with the title of 'Vietnamese Folk Artisan' by the Folk Art Association of Vietnam in 2013. Mrs. Senh has made significant contributions to teaching traditional embroidery skills to women in the community.

In this village, there is also Mr. Chiu Sang Hi, a skilled traditional horn player considered the best in Hai Ha district. He can play all 18 funeral tunes and 12 wedding tunes of the Dao people. Remarkably, Mr. Hi can also craft his own horns, a skill previously passed down from generation to generation by artisan fathers.

Additionally, Hai Ha district boasts lush tea hills, the pristine and enchanting scenery of Cai Chien island, the vibrant atmosphere of the North Phong Sinh border economic zone, and the poetic beauty of model gardens and hamlets. These are all places that travelers can explore along with Duo Waterfall in Quang Ninh.
