Here's everything we know so far about the M2 Pro and M2 Max chip laptops.

Will There Be a Press Release?
Previous rumors suggested Apple would hold a new event in October to officially launch the new Mac models. However, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman has hinted over the past two weeks that Apple may find it difficult to hold a second fall event this year. Instead, the company might opt to brief select members of the media on the new devices and issue a press release.

This comes as no surprise as previous rumors indicated that the 14 and 16 inch MacBook Pros won't bring significant improvements and upgrades.
MacBook Pro 2022 Color Options?
If there are no changes, Apple will still introduce space gray and silver color options for the 2022 MacBook Pro 14 and 16 inch models. However, we can expect the 'Big Apple' to bring a fresh finish to the upcoming premium laptops. In June, Apple introduced a darker aluminum finish called midnight. It's currently the only laptop with this deep blue metallic color.

If the MacBook Pro comes in a new color, it will look fresher and be the first midnight laptop with an all-black keyboard. While many are still eagerly awaiting an all-black MacBook Pro, this would be a fantastic alternative to silver and space gray.
Last year's MacBook Pro customers were also disappointed because the USB-C MagSafe 3 cable only came in two colors: white/silver. It matched the silver MacBook Pro color but looked out of place with the space gray option. Since then, Apple has released USB-C MagSafe 3 cables that match its laptop color options. Hopefully, the company will do the same with the new MacBook Pro 14 and 16 inch models.
M2 Pro and M2 Max
The most significant and noteworthy upgrade on the new generation MacBook Pro 14 and 16 inch series is the processor. Apple introduced the M1 Pro and M1 Max processors in October 2021 alongside the current models. The company continued its silicon chip upgrade program last spring with the even more powerful M1 Ultra option.

Apple commenced the M2 cycle in June with the MacBook Air. We can expect a similar performance boost from M1 to M2, extended to the Pro and Max versions in the new MacBook Pro.
Mark Gurman at Bloomberg has emphasized that graphics performance will be the focus of these new chips. Therefore, the new MacBook Pro 14 inch/16 inch models promise extremely powerful performance to meet users' daily needs.
Other Features
Here are some other features we can hope to see with the new MacBook Pro:
- Fast USB-C charging for the MacBook Pro 16 inch
- Support for more RAM
- M2 Ultra version? Not ruling out the possibility that Apple will surprise us with an M2 Ultra version of the MacBook Pro
- Talking about battery life and performance, the high-power mode on the MacBook Pro 16 inch M1 Max helps tackle intensive graphic tasks. Perhaps we'll see this feature appearing on more versions of the new MacBook Pro
Are you eagerly anticipating the arrival of the new 14 inch and 16 inch MacBook Pro models?
