Legend has it that in the 18th century, in the village of Co Ong, there lived a family of fishermen, blessed with a son named Truc Van Cau. Known for his exceptional wit and intelligence, Truc Van Cau was the pride of the village. Meanwhile, there was Mai Thi Trau, a charming maiden with a knack for poetry and prose, matching Cau in talent.
Impressed by his talents, the two fell in love. However, when Cau sought his parents' blessing to marry Trau, he discovered she was his half-sister. Heartbroken and disillusioned, Cau quietly left his homeland, drifting to an island miles away, now known as Hon Cau. Trau, upon learning of Cau's departure and her true lineage, succumbed to despair, finding her final rest at Dam Trau Beach.
