The Path to Cù Lần – Guiding Through Nature's Fresh Beauty
Cù Lần Village emerges as a completely fresh addition to the Da Lat tourism map, having been operational for a few years now. Spread over approximately 30 hectares amidst the wild and pristine forests at the foot of Lang Biang Mountain, Cù Lần Village is located snugly within the Suối Cạn Hamlet, Lát Commune, Lạc Dương District, Lâm Đồng Province. It sits about 20 kilometers away from Cù Hill and Xuân Hương Lake. From the city center of Da Lat, visitors can take the direction of Đankia Suối Vàng (provincial road 722), also known as Đông Trường Sơn Road, passing through vast lakes and endless pine forests of stunning beauty to reach this village.
Cù Lần – the name of the village is explained to be derived from the Cù Lần tree, interspersed among the vast pine forests, enveloping and preserving the wilderness of the landscape here. Surrounding the village is the habitat of adorable Cù Lần birds, often referred to as the species with the 'most beautiful round eyes in the world', known for their gentle demeanor, primarily nocturnal, and now a rare species listed in the Red Book. They are famously naive, tending to curl up at the slightest danger, using their hands to cover their eyes.
The Pristine Beauty amidst the Mountains and Forests
The first question that comes to the mind of any visitor upon setting foot here is 'What's here?' as they only see a tall gate, quite rudimentary, with a sign indicating Cù Lần Village, surrounded by a fairly untouched landscape unlike tourist areas. After visitors follow the direction with a horse-drawn carriage to descend to the area below, passing over more than a hundred steps and then continuing through two more suspension bridges, they finally arrive at the area of Cù Lần Village. Standing at the halfway point down the slope, visitors can broaden their view around the area, only then witnessing the magnificence of the village.
Looking down from the top of the slope, visitors will glimpse small, beautiful wooden houses with dry thatched roofs hidden amidst the pristine nature, alongside babbling streams. In the valley lies a lush green grassland, a vast and deep lake. It's a truly delightful experience as you step across the wire bridge spanning the two sides of the stream, swaying with each step. Visitors seem to wander into a space that's truly peaceful and refreshing.
Amidst the stunning natural landscape of the highland forests, Cù Lần Village exudes a rustic charm with its unique traditional stilt houses of the K’Ho ethnic people. The cool air of the Da Lat highlands makes this place an ideal retreat for many travelers.
Descending to the foot of the slope, one feels refreshed as towering pine trees loom overhead, while below lies a sea of flowers and in the distance, Cù Lần Village veiled in the mist of the valley.
