Over 200 years ago, locals of Hoi An brought water coconut seeds from the western region to cultivate. Today, the area where those coconut trees are grown has become a beloved tourist spot known as the Seven Sisters Coconut Grove.
Exploring the Seven Sisters Coconut Grove – Hoi An's 'Miniature Western Region'
Regarding the name of this place, before its expansion, the grove only had about 7 water coconut plots, hence the name. Nowadays, with the development of tourism, the area of water coconut has expanded much more, not just 7 plots as before.

Located 4km southeast of Hoi An, the Seven Sisters Coconut Grove resembles a corner of the Mekong Delta. The Seven Sisters Coconut Grove is situated in the villages of Van Lang, Thanh Tam Tay, Thanh Tam Dong, Thanh Nhut, Con Nhan in Cam Thanh commune, Hoi An city; and is surrounded by water, making it very convenient for guerilla warfare.

In 2008, The Seven Sisters Coconut Grove was recognized by the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee as a historical and cultural relic site, put under management and protection. Since then, the coconut grove has become an attractive destination on the tourism map of Quang Nam.

Today, Seven Sisters is an ecological area with a harmonious flooded forest ecosystem. It's also home to many marine species such as shrimp, crab, snapper, and mollusks. The brackish ecosystem of Seven Sisters acts as a filter, accumulating and decomposing waste, purifying water before it flows into the sea.

Tourists visiting Seven Sisters Coconut Grove are mesmerized by the endless rows of water coconut trees, interspersed with many low-thatched houses made from coconut. Here, visitors can sit on small round boats paddled by local people to enjoy the beauty of the river, with lively fish swimming below and egrets nesting in the coconut palms above.

The swaying round boats on the water, skillfully steered by boatmen, are very safe for tourists. Visitors also get to experience the unique basket boat dance performance. Additionally, there are lively folk games such as blindfolded rice pot smashing, tug-of-war, boat racing... The local cuisine here is also a highlight with many enticing dishes: grilled fish, banana blossom salad, snails, coconut dessert...

Seven Sisters Coconut Grove opens from 7 am to 5 pm. The entrance fee is 30,000 VND per person, and the rental fee for a round boat ranges from 150,000 to 200,000 VND per boat. Follow Mytour's blog to get more exciting and useful articles for your trip!
