As of now, Dell remains a preferred laptop brand, known for its durability in both product design and stable performance with software. The Dell Vostro 3430 model I've been using for the past week is no exception. Join me in evaluating the Dell Vostro 3430 to discover what makes this laptop interesting!
Sleek and Durable Design of Dell Vostro 3430
Similar to many other Dell products, the Dell Vostro 3430 boasts durability. Constructed from premium plastic, this laptop provides a solid feel during usage. Additionally, the device's connection joints are well-crafted, ensuring a stable experience without any wobbling or shaking.

Additionally, the overall dimensions of Dell Vostro 3430 measure 323.67 x 219.76 x 18.48 mm, and it weighs approximately 1.44 kg. This compact size allows for easy portability in a backpack for a comfortable all-day use. I also appreciate Dell's curved edge design, preventing any snags when placing it in a bag.

Furthermore, Dell Vostro 3430 employs a lifting hinge mechanism, elevating the keyboard to a comfortable angle. This elevation enhances typing comfort and allows for a more natural hand position. Moreover, utilizing such a hinge mechanism aids in better-than-average heat dissipation for the device.

Despite its compact and lightweight design, the Dell Vostro 3430 comes equipped with essential connectivity options for various peripheral devices. On the right side, you'll find a card slot, LAN port, 1 USB 2.0 port, and a standard 3.5mm audio port. On the left side, there's a charging port, 1 HDMI port, 1 USB 3.2 port, and 1 USB Type-C port.

Exploring the interior, Dell Vostro 3430 features a 68% layout keyboard commonly found in sleek and lightweight laptops today. The well-spaced keys provide a satisfying typing experience. However, the keyboard on this laptop is a bit stiff and shallow, making my typing experience less comfortable. As a solution, I often use it in conjunction with a mechanical keyboard for a more comfortable typing experience.

On the flip side, Dell Vostro 3430 compensates with a well-crafted trackpad, maintaining a proper depth when pressed. Additionally, the trackpad exhibits high sensitivity, providing a smooth and responsive touch experience. Hence, I rarely find the need to use an external mouse when using this laptop.
Dell Vostro 3430 Screen Delivers Stunning Display Quality
Dell Vostro 3430 features a 14-inch screen with thin bezels, providing a wide viewing angle. The laptop's screen boasts Full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080 Pixels), ensuring clear content display. Additionally, the device is equipped with an IPS LCD panel for eye-catching and vibrant colors.

Furthermore, the Dell Vostro 3430 screen incorporates anti-glare technology for comfortable usage in various lighting conditions. Moreover, the screen utilizes WVA (Wide View Angle) technology, providing a broad viewing angle for comfortable work.

As observed earlier, Dell Vostro 3430 draws power from the Intel Core i5-1335U processor, part of Intel's 13th-generation chip. This processor is equipped with advanced technologies to handle various tasks related to learning, office work, and more.

In addition, Dell Vostro 3430 comes with 8 GB of RAM, allowing the device to handle multitasking and basic user tasks. However, when running multiple tasks simultaneously or engaging in image editing-related tasks, the device may experience brief freezes or delays for 1-2 seconds. Therefore, upgrading the device to 16 GB of RAM could enhance multitasking capabilities for smoother performance.

Furthermore, upgrading Dell Vostro 3430 to 16 GB of RAM activates the integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics. This activation boosts the device's performance, particularly in handling graphic-related tasks more efficiently.

To provide a comprehensive understanding of Dell Vostro 3430's capabilities, I conducted tests using benchmarking software such as GeekBench 6, CineBench R23, 3DMark, and PCMark 10. The specific results are as follows:
- GeekBench 6:
- Single-core/Multi-core: 2,184 points/5,342 points.
- GPU Compute: 8,969 points.

- Cinebench R23 (Single-core/Multi-core): 1,621 points/8,101 points.

- PCMark 10: 4,646 points.

- 3DMark: 903 points.

Based on the scores, I assess that Dell Vostro 3430 falls into a competitive range, meaning it is neither too weak nor too strong compared to other products in the same segment that I have previously evaluated. Additionally, this device has not activated Intel Iris Xe, so these scores do not accurately evaluate its true potential.

Furthermore, gaming on Dell Vostro 3430 did not provide a satisfying experience. To give you a clearer perspective, I played EA FC Online with graphics settings at the lowest level. Additionally, I utilized MSI Afterburner to measure FPS, CPU temperature, RAM consumption, and more, for a more comprehensive insight.

While playing EA FC Online on Dell Vostro 3430, the device consistently experienced frame freezes and lag, even at the lowest graphics settings. Additionally, the recorded FPS rarely reached the 60 fps threshold. Hence, I concluded that the gaming experience on this laptop is not optimal.
In general, if you intend to game on Dell Vostro 3430, I believe this laptop may not be the most suitable choice. However, if you aim for smoother and more stable gaming performance on this laptop, I recommend upgrading from 8 GB to 16 GB of RAM to activate Intel Iris Xe for better gaming and graphics-related tasks.

Additionally, I used Crystal Diskmark Shizuku software to measure the read/write speed of the internal SSD in Dell Vostro 3430. The results are as follows:

- Read speed: 3,342 MB/s.
- Write speed: 1,623 MB/s.
Overall, Dell Vostro 3430 has relatively fast data read/write speeds, achieving results comparable to many competitors in the same range. Therefore, the device can efficiently handle data transfers.
Dell Vostro 3430 boasts a long-lasting battery life and effective cooling
In addition to performance, battery life is a crucial concern for laptop users. I used BatteryMon software to test the battery life of Dell Vostro 3430, dividing it into two different usage scenarios.
- Scenario 1: Regular tasks without gaming:

- Battery life: 2 hours and 54 minutes.
- Measurement time: 1 hour.
- Screen brightness 100%, and power-saving mode off.
- Headphones plugged in, volume set at 70%.
- USB plugged in for mouse and keyboard usage.
- Scenario 2: Regular tasks with 20 minutes of gaming:

- Battery life: 2 hours and 21 minutes.
- Measurement time: 1 hour.
- Screen brightness 100%, and power-saving mode off.
- Headphones plugged in, volume set at 70%.
- USB plugged in for mouse and keyboard usage.
As you can observe from the above results, the battery life of Dell Vostro 3430 stands out significantly compared to other similar products I've used. This can be considered a positive aspect compensating for its performance. Under real-world usage conditions (screen at 100% brightness, with active connections like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, external speakers at 70% volume), the device can last for more than 3 hours of continuous operation. This indicates that the actual battery life is not significantly different from the test results.

Furthermore, the cooling capability of Dell Vostro 3430 is quite high, and I used HWiNFO64 software to provide you with a more visual understanding. The results I obtained are as follows:

The results show that the temperature emitted by Dell Vostro 3430 after one hour of usage is 60 degrees Celsius. This is an excellent figure for a slim laptop compared to others I've used. However, the cooling fan of the machine tends to be quite loud during heavy tasks, which could be a minor drawback to consider when using Dell Vostro 3430.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Dell Vostro 3430 remains a good device to meet users' office tasks. However, to enhance gaming performance or handle graphic-related tasks, I recommend upgrading the RAM from 8 GB to 16 GB. Currently, Dell Vostro 3430 is priced at 18.49 million VND at Mytour (prices may vary depending on timing and promotional programs).
