If Ho Chi Minh's mausoleum in Hanoi is considered the 'heart of the capital,' then in the red soil plateau, we encounter the beloved Ho Chi Minh statue at Dai Doan Ket Square, often referred to as the 'heart of Pleiku city in particular and the Central Highlands in general.'
Strolling around Dai Doan Ket Square – the soul of Pleiku's mountainous town
Dai Doan Ket Square, also known as the Great Unity Square, is situated in the city center of Pleiku, Gia Lai province. With a spacious area of 12 hectares, the square is acclaimed as the soul of Pleiku and Gia Lai province as a whole.

The image of President Ho Chi Minh standing tall on a pedestal, waving to the people nationwide, approximately 10.8 meters high, standing on a 4.5-meter-high green stone-clad concrete pedestal, weighing about 16 tons. The statue, made of pure bronze, is the largest Ho Chi Minh statue in Vietnam, crafted over 2 years by sculptor Nguyen Ba Dua at Gia Lam Airport (Hanoi) using modern casting technology.

Behind Uncle Ho's statue is a series of bas-reliefs in the shape of lotus flowers, artistically carved from curved stone, symbolizing the wild red land of the Central Highlands. Alongside are intricately carved scenes depicting the life, production, and struggles of the people in this area, providing visitors with a highly valuable piece of art when they step foot here.

Amidst the square's courtyard stands a cylindrical basalt rock structure forming a gradually ascending 3-tiered stone tower, pulsating with the vitality of 54 brotherly ethnicities. On the left and right of the bas-relief are two impressive sets of Central Highlands gongs, with both flat and knobbed gongs.

In front of the monument is a series of square-cut grass patches alternating with granite stones, creating a leisurely walking path for everyone, alongside a 25-meter-high flagpole proudly displaying the fluttering red flag with a golden star.
