Wild sunflowers, also known as wild chrysanthemums or wild sun daisies, are a type of daisy flower with vibrant orange-yellow hues. They grow rapidly and typically bloom in late autumn, early winter (lasting from late October to the end of November each year).
Wild sunflowers originally hail from subtropical and tropical regions. In Vietnam, the French introduced wild sunflowers to plantations in Lam Dong province for use as green fertilizer in rubber and coffee plantations. Due to their nutrient-rich composition, they promote plant growth.
With suitable climate and soil conditions, wild sunflowers gradually spread to various places. Somewhere along the way, they became the iconic flower of Dalat city.
In terms of appearance, wild sunflowers are a hybrid of sunflowers and daisies. Their radiant orange-yellow petals and plump flower heads exude vitality, symbolizing pride and enduring loyalty in love.
The enchanting beauty, both in form and spirit, has made wild sunflowers a flower that captivates the hearts of countless wanderers.
And every year, around the end of October and November, people eagerly invite each other to Dalat to indulge in the allure of this charming flower.
