The Legend of Trac Island
According to legend, during the reign of King Ham Nghi, the Can Vuong movement against the French began. Among the officials supporting him were the twin brothers named Dang. The elder brother, Dang Phong Tai, and the younger one, Dang Trac Van, looked so alike that they were often mistaken for each other.
At that time, the Dang family adopted an orphan named Truong Quang Ngoc. Later, during the height of the resistance against the French, Ngoc, in his ambition to gain noble titles, conspired with the French to capture King Ham Nghi and hand him over to the enemy. Unfortunately, Phong Tai also fell into the hands of the enemy.
The French exiled Phong Tai to Con Dao. Here, the prison conditions were not too harsh, so he married Dao Minh Nguyet, a woman from An Hai village, whose beauty was admired by many. Due to her gracefulness, the villagers called her the Fairy of An Hoi. At this time, Nguyet's father, Mr. Huong, gave the couple a spacious garden for living and starting a career.

Once, Phong Tai had to leave home for a few days. As usual, upon his return, Nguyet would eagerly hug him to express her longing. This time, as she reached out, she was pushed away. It turned out to be Trac Van, Phong Tai's twin brother, exiled to this region by the French.
Nguyet was puzzled for a moment, then she asked the reason. It turned out that after escaping from the French, Trac Van followed the revolutionary leader Phan Dinh Phung, who led the Hương Khê uprising in Hà Tĩnh at that time. Later, Trac Van killed Truong Quang Ngoc to avenge his brother. However, he also fell into the hands of the French, who exiled him to Con Dao.
Upon returning, Phong Tai welcomed his brother with both joy and sorrow. Meanwhile, Minh Nguyet, seeing the two brothers with similar appearances, felt considerable confusion. Once, when Phong Tai went fishing at sea, despite knowing the truth, Minh Nguyet intentionally embraced his younger brother. Once again, Trac Van refused, leaving her bewildered, then claiming it was a mistake. However, Trac Van understood his sister-in-law's concerns. To avoid unpleasant incidents, he decided to leave for an island near the Côn Sơn bay.
