Matching the charm of the nearby companion, Bình Tiên, the beauty of Vĩnh Hy Bay truly deserves its place among the top 4 scenic bays in Vietnam.
Discovering the Wonders of Vĩnh Hy Bay – Among Vietnam's Top 4 Stunning Bays
In the past, when talking about the most beautiful beaches, popular names like Nha Trang, Đà Nẵng, or Phú Quốc would come to mind. However, thanks to the adventurous spirit of the younger generation, more unexplored coastal areas are being unearthed. Secluded and pristine, radiantly beautiful, not inferior to anywhere else, and most importantly, you don't have to travel far, as it's right here in Vietnam!
Not Bình Ba, Bình Lập, or Lý Sơn, Đảo Yến, today, we venture to a different destination – Vĩnh Hy Bay. Let's take a look at the photos below; undoubtedly, you'll have to admit: 'Vietnam is not lacking in beautiful seas like abroad, and, in fact, they are even more stunning!'.
Vĩnh Hy Bay is situated in the Northeast of Ninh Thuan province, approximately 40 kilometers from Phan Rang city, right next to Nui Chua National Park. The sea here remains untouched by commercialization as it is still a hidden gem. Consequently, the pristine and untouched beauty of the turquoise sea, white sands, mountainous forests, and the nature of Vĩnh Hy are exceptionally rare and, of course, breathtaking!
When is the best time to visit Vĩnh Hy?
Being a small bay surrounded by Nui Chua mountain, the weather in Vĩnh Hy is mild and pleasant throughout the year. You can visit anytime, just avoid the rainy season. However, if possible, plan your trip to Vĩnh Hy around May to August as this is the most beautiful time. Note that prices during this period may be slightly higher than usual.
Getting to Vĩnh Hy
If coming from Phan Rang city, you can take a bus directly to Vĩnh Hy. The bus routes here are frequent and consistent throughout the day.
Alternatively, you have another interesting option, which is renting a motorbike and traveling to the bay on your own. The road from the city to the bay passes through Ninh Chu Sea, with one side hugging Nui Chua mountain and the other overlooking the stunning blue sea. If you're on a motorbike, feel free to stop anywhere to explore or take 'Instagrammable' photos because the scenery here is beyond words!
If coming from Cam Ranh, you can also drive to Vĩnh Hy Bay via National Highway 1 and TL702. This route also passes through the famous Bình Tiên Beach. In total, it's only about 40 kilometers to reach your destination.
Where to stay in Vĩnh Hy?
Because it's still relatively undiscovered, Vĩnh Hy doesn't have an abundance of accommodations. You can consider a few options:
If you prefer a luxurious stay with an extremely generous budget (emphasizing, extremely!), you can choose Vĩnh Hy Resort or the epitome of luxury, the 6-star Amanoi Resort nestled in the mountains. With the hefty price tag here, you'll experience a serene resort atmosphere with lavish services.
If you just need a reasonably priced place, Vĩnh Hy also has some guesthouses for you to choose from. Research and make reservations in advance to be sure of availability.
And if you're adventurous, you can prepare a sleeping bag and a tent to camp right on the beach or ask to stay with local residents. It will be quite an exciting experience!
All set, where to go now?
Take a Boat Tour around the Bay – Explore Coral Reefs
With a sea this beautiful, taking a boat tour around the bay and exploring the coral reefs is a must! You can book a tour with a boat right at the bay, and it's advisable to go in a group of over 10 people for a better price. If you have a larger group, bargaining might be a bit easier.
When reaching the coral reefs, the boat will stop for visitors. If you can swim, that's fantastic – just grab a snorkel and a breathing tube, and you can freely swim with the fish under the crystal-clear water, admiring the stunning coral reefs. And if you can't swim, you can still enjoy the coral reefs through the boat's glass bottom!
Watch the Sunrise – Capture Photos at Hang Rái
Being in Vĩnh Hy and not visiting Hang Rái is a lifetime regret! This is an incredibly beautiful place, whether for sightseeing or photography. Despite being called a 'cave', it's actually a rocky area extending into the sea with naturally stacked boulders. Many small 'caves' here are the habitat of stingrays, hence the name Hang Rái.
Bask in the open sky and sea at Hang Rái, especially enchanting during sunrise. The sun rises, painting a vast area in hues of pink. At this moment, Hang Rái resembles paradise from another realm! Many who visit Vĩnh Hy deem capturing an everlasting photo at Hang Rái as a 'life or death' mission.
What about dining in Vĩnh Hy?
Dining is the most enjoyable aspect of the journey; if there's any competition, it might only be with the 'Instagrammable' photo sessions. Rest assured, when in Vĩnh Hy, the food is not only delicious but also incredibly affordable!
Prices for dishes like bánh xèo, bánh canh, and chả cuốn here range from 5 to 15 thousand dong. So, whether you want a hearty breakfast or indulge in a snack fest, it'll only cost around 25 to 30 thousand dong per person.
For seafood, you can buy it right on the shore in the early morning when it's freshly caught. Or better yet, rent a boat to the offshore seafood rafts to choose the freshest shrimp, fish, crabs, etc. You can either prepare and enjoy them on the boat or take them home as a treat. The locals here are friendly and genuine, so no worries about overcharging!
