Among the animals closely associated with humans, chickens are one of the domesticated bird species, belonging to the feathered group. Domesticated from wild chickens thousands of years ago, they have become an integral part of the animal world that humans raise at home, fed with various foods like rice, grains, and even insects. Like other animal species, chickens are diverse, ranging from roosters, hens to specific breeds like native chickens, three-yellow chickens, silky chickens, junglefowls, and more. Some are renowned based on their breeding regions, gaining fame like Dong Tao chicken, Ho chicken, etc. Similar to other poultry, chickens reproduce through egg-laying, incubation, and raising chicks.

A brood of chicks usually has an unstable number, depending on the quantity of eggs the mother hen has incubated after laying a full nest. After the approximately 21-day egg incubation process, the chicks receive stimuli from the mother's clucking sounds to peck the eggshells and emerge. Just after breaking free from the eggshell, these chicks live off the yolk part of the egg they absorb before breaking the shell. Witnessing this scene, I feel like standing in front of a heartwarming painting of maternal love. Whenever a playful chick accidentally gets lost, it will incessantly 'cheep-cheep' to call its mother and the rest of the brood. The journey of following the mother to forage for the chicks concludes after a few weeks, and the mother hen leaves the brood to continue laying eggs, incubating, and hatching new chicks.

As the brood of chicks follows the mother's calls, such as the chicks' 'cheep-cheep' and the mother's clucking sounds, the rural scene becomes more vivid and warm, evoking a sense of peace and harmony in the village.
