Faker still has numerous goals he aims to conquer in the next 10 years.
For the legendary esports player Faker, the 2023 season signifies a milestone marking his illustrious 10-year career. Before the match against Nongshim RedForce (NS) on March 19th, T1 players used red roses to commemorate Faker's significant achievement. Subsequently, T1 also convincingly defeated NS with a 2-0 score.
In the post-match interview, the topic of Faker's 10-year career attracted significant attention from the South Korean media. A surprising revelation was that instead of considering retirement plans after a decade of competition, Faker envisions playing for another 10 years. He even believes he has many goals yet to accomplish.
“I am still young and have plenty of time to progress further. Despite having competed for 10 years, I still have many unfulfilled goals. If I can play for another 10 years, my aim is to achieve even greater accomplishments,” - Faker shares with the South Korean media after the match.
In the realm of esports, many players continue to compete beyond the age of 30. For example, in the game VALORANT, player Ange1 recently led Na`Vi to second place in the VCT Lock In tournament at the age of 33. Similarly, player Dendi in the DOTA 2 discipline is still competing in the DPC system despite approaching his 34th birthday.
Expressing this to highlight that Faker's ability to compete at the highest level for many more years is entirely plausible. At the 10-year mark in the future, Faker would be 37 years old. Therefore, the 'Demon King' sets the goal of achieving significant accomplishments (including additional world championships, MSI titles, etc.) that impressively fuel his desire for victory.
However, 10 years from now is still a distant future, making it difficult to make definitive assertions. Meanwhile, in the current timeframe, Faker's T1 remains a powerful team dominating the LCK Spring 2023. It would be truly fantastic if Faker adds another LCK title to commemorate the 10-year milestone of one of the most illustrious careers in the League of Legends scene.
