Most celebrity profiles witness a decrease in followers to below 10,000.

This morning (10/12), the social media giant Facebook experiences a notable decline in user engagement. Simultaneously, the number of followers is restricted to below 10,000.
For instance, singer Sơn Tùng M-TP, previously boasting nearly 1 million followers, now only has 9,938, while streamer Độ Phùng (Độ Mixi), who once had over 2.5 million followers, now stands at 9,919. Prominent singers like Đông Nhi and Bích Phương, with millions of followers, now display figures below 10,000.
Renowned KOLs, who previously owned millions of followers, now exhibit counts below 10,000.
Initially, many speculated this to be a new move by Facebook to filter out fake accounts. However, even the personal page of the social media CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, only shows 9,927 followers, despite having nearly 120 million followers.
The recent issue only affects individual accounts, with no impact on fan pages.
Moreover, this decline isn't akin to the mass follower drop experienced by many celebrities in 2016. Back then, Facebook altered its API, scanning for fake accounts and bogus likes. Consequently, numerous accounts lost followers.
Facebook has yet to announce any error status or the reasons behind the significant drop in followers on personal profiles. However, according to speculation, this could be a display glitch. When searching for the name of a famous individual through Facebook's search tool, the follower count still appears correct. Additionally, the list of followers on personal pages remains intact when viewed in detail.
Since the beginning of 2022, Facebook, the world's largest social network, has reported removing 1.4 billion accounts suspected of being fake, according to the company's Community Standards Enforcement Report. Three months prior, 1.6 billion fake accounts were purged from the platform.
The recent decrease in follower count is likely attributed to Facebook's ongoing efforts to maintain a safe and authentic user environment. While some users may experience temporary discrepancies, the platform's commitment to combating fake accounts remains steadfast.
Facebook prioritizes cracking down on fake accounts attempting to cause harm. Many of these accounts are used in spam campaigns and have financial motives.
A minor incident occurred on the Facebook social network about a month ago. During social media usage, many users in Vietnam encountered issues with sending document files. Additionally, some individuals experienced Messenger messages being delayed, taking a while to reach the recipient after being sent. The incident affected both the Facebook website and the mobile Facebook app.
