After updating to the latest version, users can send and receive 360-degree photos, HD videos directly within Messenger. According to Facebook:
'Both 360-degree photos and HD videos in Facebook Messenger are easily recognizable. With 360-degree photos, users will see a compass icon on the right side of the panoramic photo. HD videos will have an HD or SD mark for identification. If desired, users can change the quality right at the mark in the bottom right corner when in full-screen mode'.

The availability of new features depends on the region you live in. 360-degree photos are available worldwide, on both iOS and Android devices. However, HD videos are only available in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Hong Kong, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and the United States, on both Android and iOS devices.
