Previously, Facebook experimented with and updated WhatsApp shortcuts, a method to help Facebook users quickly and conveniently access this app. Not stopping at just testing WhatsApp shortcuts, the social network continues to roll out new experiments such as posting Instagram Stories on WhatsApp.
According to TechCrunch, users can directly post Instagram Stories to WhatsApp as WhatsApp status, and they are encrypted, disappearing after 24 hours. This feature is based on publicly available code provided by WhatsApp to third-party apps.
'Users can use the share option with WhatsApp on Instagram from the share screen, but they still have to press Send on WhatsApp to post the story,' according to TechCrunch. This feature was first discovered by Brazilians on the Tecnoblog site.
A spokesperson for Facebook stated: 'We are always looking for ways to test new features to improve the user experience on Instagram and help you share meaningful moments with your loved ones.'
In October last year, Facebook experimented with a feature similar to allow Instagram users to post their Stories directly as Facebook Stories.
Facebook's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, announced that there are currently around 300 million users viewing “Instagram Stories” and “WhatsApp Status” every day.
These features were originally “borrowed” from fierce competitor Snapchat, yet the user base of Instagram and WhatsApp nearly doubles that of Snapchat, with 173 million users per day.

Additionally, Instagram users can now easily follow their friends through Hashtags posted after each story on Instagram. This will help users quickly track Hashtags of their friends, staying updated with the latest news about them.
