Facebook Messenger Adds Self-Destructing Message Mode

Facebook announces an update to Messenger and Instagram, introducing a new chat feature that automatically deletes chat content when the chat window is closed. This feature, named 'vanish mode,' is specifically designed for users who prefer not to store specific chat content, mainly appealing to the younger demographic.

In this mode, the entire chat content will automatically disappear at both ends when the chat session concludes. From the regular chat window, users can swipe up to enable and swipe again to disable this mode. The auto-vanishing content also raises concerns about privacy and content management. Facebook states that users can take screenshots to report any problematic chat. When a screenshot is taken, the other party will be notified. 'Vanish mode' is exclusive to personal chats and not available for group chats.

The latest feature is currently being rolled out for both Messenger and Instagram. Recently, Facebook has also updated to enable users to seamlessly chat between these two applications.
