According to TechCrunch, chatbots are taking a backseat in the app, and the Discover section (showcasing deals, games, and businesses) will vanish entirely. The People tab will now center around the Stories format borrowed from Snapchat.

You can now easily see who's active with a simple tap from the People page. The redesigned app eliminates existing tabs, leaving only the People or Chat tab, containing all your current conversations. In other words, Facebook Messenger will focus more on sharing content with your friends and less on features like online shopping and in-app gaming (an area where China's WeChat has excelled).
Bots and Businesses
Following the announcement of the update, TechCrunch confirmed with Facebook that this update is currently available to some users and will soon be rolled out more widely. These changes are part of an ongoing gradual innovation implemented over several months.
Chatbots, businesses, and games can still be found in the new interface, but you'll need to use the search bar at the top to locate them. You can also message businesses directly from their Facebook page as usual.
The battle for user loyalty between this chat app and others continues, but of course, Facebook also boasts a formidable player in this field with WhatsApp. Apple has its own iMessage, while Google is pushing people towards RCS messaging.
With the upcoming changes for Facebook Messenger, your chat experience will be more organized and user-friendly. Furthermore, the dark mode is always available whenever you need it.
The automatic photo saving feature on Messenger quickly fills up your phone's memory, so turn it off if you haven't already. If you're unsure how to do that, check out how to Disable Automatic Photo Save on Facebook Messenger on your phone here.
