Although Facebook has long provided tools allowing users to download their posted information, the newly released feature provides a more practical way to save that data by enabling you to export your notes and posts to popular services like Google Documents, Blogger, or WordPress.com.
Facebook users can find this latest feature in the Your Facebook Information menu under Settings. By clicking on Transfer a copy of your information, you just need to follow the on-screen steps to transfer your data to your desired destination.
To safeguard data, Facebook states users will be required to re-enter their password before the information transfer to WordPress and Google Docs begins. The company notes that this process will encrypt data as it moves between Facebook and other services.
This new addition is part of Facebook's Data Transfer Project, a collaboration between tech giants aimed at providing users with more ways to move their content between services. Current project participants include Apple, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and Twitter. For instance, last year, Facebook added a feature giving users the ability to export their photos and videos on Facebook to Google Photos, a result of this collaboration. Users can now also export photos and videos to Backblaze, Dropbox, and Koofr.
