Nowadays, with the Facebook Messenger app on smartphones, users can perform various features such as making calls and video calls. Moreover, Facebook is set to release AR Studio Camera Effects for developers in open beta. This is a common Camera feature we used to see when taking photos on Facebook Messenger before.
Before its release, about 2,000 developers and various companies experimented with the technology. In Messenger, users can experience effects like breathing fire, virtual darkness, and even a cat lying on someone's head. HBO even allowed users to become the Night King in Game of Thrones season 7.
Now, this technology will be further developed, meaning users will soon witness additional effects inserted around their heads or cute animals.
'By opening AR to all creators, we are taking steps to make AR a part of everyday life. We continue to enhance the capabilities of the platform, with improved facial tracking, new graphics capabilities, better scripts, and now the world of effects,' said Ficus Kirkpatrick, Facebook's Chief Technology Officer. 'This is just the beginning, and we can't wait to see how creators bring art into their lives through AR Studio.'
The company also releases World Effects, providing effects like unicorns, chat bubbles, and robots. World Effects is similar to Snapchat's World Lenses, and Facebook hopes it will gain popularity, especially now that developers have more access - something Snapchat doesn't want to do.
Additionally, Facebook offers a range of other popular features beyond Facebook Stories.
When using Facebook Messenger, a commonly used feature is sending photos. If you're unsure how to send photos in Facebook Messenger, check out our photo-sending guide on Facebook Messenger.
Besides, on Facebook Messenger, you can also join various fun games like EverWing, or play Tetris on Messenger, which is closely associated with childhood memories for many. Do you know how to play these fun games on this app?
