Messenger Rooms has just been updated with a range of new capabilities. The new Messenger feature, announced last April, allows users to start video calls within Messenger or Facebook and invite friends to join even if they don't have a Facebook account.
With the newly deployed features, users can now customize their backgrounds, much like Microsoft Teams' custom background feature. This new feature is currently available on mobile devices, allowing users to set any image they desire as their background. This adds to existing features, including the ability to use AR effects and 360 backgrounds. Last month, Facebook also added the functionality to go live directly from within Messenger Rooms.
In addition to customizable backgrounds, Messenger Rooms now allows you to create, share, manage, and join a room within the Messenger app more seamlessly. Specifically, the button to create a room is now more prominent in the Chats tab. Users can quickly find invited rooms at the top of the Chats tab. There's also an option to 'create a room with default, suggested, or custom activities, set a future start date, and customize member options.'
The new room management feature in Messenger Rooms allows users to view, join, and edit the rooms they've created. This includes the ability to invite additional people to a scheduled room and delete a room they no longer want active. Lastly, the company has added the Share Rooms feature, enabling users to send notifications to ensure their invited guests don't miss the call.
