Faker once again leaves fans hopeful.
As known a few days ago, T1 players finalized their choices for the champions who will receive their Worlds 2023 skins next year. Due to the significance of this championship, many fans were eagerly awaiting T1's choices. However, at the last moment, Faker made a surprising switch, opting for Orianna instead of the expected Ahri. Meanwhile, Keria deliberated until 12:30 AM on December 23, still in contact with Riot to alter his selection.
One can sympathize with T1 players as, according to Riot's regulations, they are allowed only one choice each, yet there are numerous iconic champions to consider. For instance, Faker had to pass on Azir, the champion that helped him defeat JD Gaming in the decisive game of the Semifinals. Keria, too, had to forgo Lux since he had no opportunity to use the champion throughout the tournament. Hence, the difficulty in choosing for the players is understandable.
Following the heartbreak of the unexpected change, Faker recently disclosed important information on his streaming channel: 'Riot might bring a surprise gift for the fourth championship. Riot could unexpectedly create commemorative skins for Ahri or LeBlanc.' Of course, Faker shared this while his chat continuously questioned T1's captain about his last-minute decision.
Faker shares thoughts on Riot's potential 'teasing'
In reality, this has been eagerly anticipated by numerous T1 fans who have sent pleas to Riot. While breaking the rules is usually out of the question for Riot, except for the case of Easyhoon in the past, T1's championship is undeniably an unprecedented achievement. If Riot can appease T1 fans, it might propel T1 Ahri's (if created) revenue to unprecedented heights.
However, if Riot doesn't comply, no one can complain. In that scenario, T1 fans, Faker, or Ahri enthusiasts may only hope that T1 successfully defends the championship, mirroring Faker's determination, so that the T1 roster can once again choose the Worlds skin.
