However, Annihilators #1 reveals that Groot's identity is essentially a facade, and to this day, nobody has fully unraveled the mystery behind his royal bloodline.
Groot has navigated through some complex relationships
Due to the limited understanding of Groot's language, his relationships with other superheroes often remain at the level of camaraderie or friendship. Nevertheless, there have been instances where Groot has adeptly conversed with characters beyond the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy, including the mutant Jean Grey, who can telepathically communicate with him.
In the original comics, Groot has expressed numerous emotions towards Jean, even professing his love and pledging to protect humanity alongside her and their allies. Groot has also formed alliances with the cosmic parasite Venom, demonstrating his ability to communicate with this creature.

Groot was once exiled from his homeland for the sake of friendship

In the original comics, their bond is even stronger, emphasized multiple times through their wild adventures. However, this friendship was partly why Groot had to leave Planet X, his homeland, as the Flora Colossi dislike mammals and often view them as inferior species.
Groot is one of the few actively fighting for the rights of other living creatures. This led him to be exiled bitterly by the Arbor Masters ruling group. Groot even once killed another sapling after witnessing its ill treatment towards mammalian species.
Groot is an incredibly intelligent creature
Due to Groot's limited vocabulary, few realize the depth of his knowledge. Even his closest friends in the Guardians team fail to recognize that Groot's race is among the most intelligent in the universe.
Flora can generate 'quantum knowledge' through photosynthesis and transmit it to the Arbor Masters. Among them, Groot is even more intelligent. He masters many advanced techniques that most others cannot comprehend, and even assisted Maximus Mad in finding ways to nullify reality.
Groot possesses remarkable strength
In addition to intelligence and physical strength, Groot has a powerful regenerative ability, partially shown in the MCU. During the Secret Wars event, Groot could even regenerate from a small piece of wood at an astonishing speed, becoming massive in an instant, capable of destroying even a colossal castle.
Groot is nearly invulnerable to everything. His wooden body is so sturdy and resilient that not even fire can cause any harm. Furthermore, Groot possesses telepathic abilities to control plant species, a formidable power rarely tapped into.
Groot's Achilles' heel
Strong as he may be, Groot also harbors many weaknesses, with a surprisingly simple Achilles' heel. Groot's greatest foe is the biologist Leslie Evans, who created a unique species specifically to destroy the extraterrestrial tree-being. However, it seems that common pests or insects cannot affect the special wood layer on Groot's body.
Groot could be the last of his kind
Numerous Marvel comics have asserted that Groot is the last of his kind. The Marvel Animated Universe series even claims that Ronan wiped out the entire Flora Colossi. However, some sources suggest that due to possessing the World Pod, Groot could regenerate his tribe at any time. Nevertheless, in the Guardians of the Galaxy 2020 comics and Marvel Studios films, Groot appears to be the last surviving member of his species.
