Father Do Minh Prioritizes Plant-Based Milk for Baby
He says: “My wife is not comfortable with cow's milk because it has many harmful effects such as obesity, antibiotic resistance, and early puberty, so since the birth of our daughter, my wife has regularly made various nut milks for her. Baby Na was breastfed and started drinking nut milk from birth. She has developed very well, with weight and height measurements suitable for her age”.
1. Milk for baby: red bean milk

When selecting milk for the baby, Father Do Minh and his wife prefer nut milk such as red bean milk over industrial cow milk
Ingredients for making baby milk
- 50 grams brown rice or brown rice
- 50 grams red beans
- 1 tablespoon roasted white sesame seeds
- 2 dried jujube fruits (or strawberry jam/honey)
- 1 liter hot water
How to make baby milk
- Wash and soak rice, beans for about 4 hours. Then steam until cooked for about 30 minutes, when turning off the heat, cover the pot tightly for another 20 minutes.
- Put all ingredients into a blender along with jujube fruits (honey/strawberry jam) and 500ml hot water, blend until smooth for 2 minutes.
- After blending, add the remaining 500ml hot water and mix well. It can be consumed immediately or stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Drink daily instead of cow's milk.
2. Milk for baby: almond rice milk
Almond rice milk provides magnesium, calcium, which helps the baby sleep well, stay relaxed but is high in calories so only use 1-3 times a week for the baby.

Ingredients for making baby milk
- 100 grams almonds (purchased at the supermarket)
- 20 grams fresh lotus seeds
- 30 grams brown rice
- 2 dried jujube fruits or 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 liter hot water
How to make baby milk
- Soak almonds for about 4 hours, then remove the skin and drain.
- Steam rice, almonds, lotus seeds in a steamer or electric rice cooker for 30 minutes, then turn off the heat. Still cover tightly for about 20 more minutes.
- Put everything into a blender with sugar, 500ml boiling water, and blend until smooth. Blend for 2 minutes until the mixture is smooth. Add the remaining 500ml boiling water and mix well.
- Can be consumed immediately or stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days for the best taste.
