Besides the longstanding brand presence of Final Fantasy, there are still numerous promising contenders for this position.
In the past year, we've witnessed the introduction of numerous new NFT game projects. Furthermore, even in the realm of traditional gaming, titles with a 'fast food' style have become increasingly prevalent. This might lead many to mistakenly believe that creating and launching a game nowadays is a simple task. However, upon reflecting on the past, we can observe just how extensive the development time for normal games can be, sometimes spanning over a decade before release. Below are some of the most evident examples.
LA Noire

In addition to the issue of consuming substantial development time, many may be surprised to learn that this game was made with a budget of up to 50 million USD (nearly 1.2 trillion VND). Initially slated for release in 2008, LA Noire didn't unveil its first trailer until two years later, even changing its publisher in the process. And remember, all the development steps for LA Noire began back in 2004.

It took 8 years from the announcement date, meaning in 2011, for LA Noire to hit the shelves. And to this day, it remains one of the most attention-grabbing masterpieces with captivating storytelling and gameplay. However, developer Team Bondi was even accused of exploiting their staff to meet deadlines.
StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty

During the 2000s, Starcraft II was undoubtedly considered one of the iconic games worldwide. Initially, Starcraft II was slated for development in 2002, but unfortunately, this project was delayed for a year to make way for World of Warcraft - one of Blizzard's most successful masterpieces later on.

Fans of Starcraft II even received beta keys to experience the beta version beforehand. However, after numerous postponements, the price of beta keys skyrocketed to nearly $400 (around 10 million VND) when it took nearly 8 years to launch (2003-2010).
Deep Down

In 2013, the Deep Down project attracted immense attention as it was supposed to be groundbreaking, revolutionizing the global gaming industry. Ideally, according to the plan, this game would be released just a year later. But as of now, in 2022, the fate of Deep Down remains a question mark.

At least there's still some information related to this game. In 2015, Capcom announced the need for more time to perfect it as they wanted to expand investments. By 6/2018, this publisher once again delayed the project's launch to 'expand' further. It's unclear how much Capcom wants to expand, but after nearly 10 years, Deep Down remains a mysterious project.
